Injured and gutted!

Hi all,
Well I just got back from training. I left on week 6 because of this but mainly because of family problems at home that brought me to this decision, although I'm gutted to be home.

Would have just went into Hunter if I had no problems at home. The doctor said it is my hip flexor muscles or something that I've pulled. I could hardly walk.

Basically I'm just wondering if there's anyone else that has had anything similar and knows the best way to treat it, and to prevent it in the future. Apparently it's because the muscles in my a*se are crap or something so I need to build them up lol.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Any help will be appreciated as I desperatly want to rejoin in a year or 2.

Dave

Dave, I'm sorry to hear about your recent problems, I know the feeling. Keep your head up though ok.
Regarding your injury, you need to recover first and then I strongly suggest you get working on your core muscles. This should help prevent further injury.
It is quite vital that you look after those. A solid physical performance comes from a solid foundation and the core is often overlooked. You may also want to start increasing your flexibility as this will also help reduce your chances of injury.
Give the Search button a run for it's money and you should be able to find quite a bit about core work and how to train. Additionally, if you're struggling then PM me and I'll be happy to sling some advice your way. I'll also be happy to give you some advice on flexibility. Most member's on MFAT know about core work though.

Mind how you go. All the best.

Thanks fella. Seeing the physio soon so can get advice from him as well. I'm trying to keep my head up, but it's hard when you can see your fitness going down and down and you can't do that much about it. Well I dont think I can, apart from upper body stuff.
