PJFT QUESTION

Hi all was just wondering do you do the pjft at your local gym or do you the afco send you somewhere to do it? another thing is the tredmmills at my gym are km/h what are the tredmills the afco use?? i run at about 9km/h or 9.5km/h i can do quicker but i do the 9 or 9.5km/h for about 20 mins. what km/h should i be running at so i know that i will pass the pjft?? thanks in advance

You need to be running faster than that, its more like 15kmph for 10mins. The gym you do it at is LA fitness.

9mph ( 14.4kph ) gets my time to around 10:12mins. So I imagine you would have to run at like 10mph (16kph) or more to get your time to around about 9:20mins

As said anything over 14(.4?) kph should get you a pass, just take into consideration time the treadmill you run on takes to get there.

I've heard a few people on here mention that the treadmill they did their PJFT on had a max speed of around 16kph meaning they couldn't achieve the score they were capable of, not that it matters much.

They say "your local gym" on all the literature, but living in East Lancashire, the most local the MoD could get to me was an L.A. Fitness gym in Manchester. :roll:

15.4 kph will get you 9:58 depending on the treadmill you run it on (speed up and slow down speeds etc.) if I remember correctly.

15.2 got me a time of 9.37 mins

16kph (which my treadmill was capped at) got me a time of 9:18 Theory speed = 9:00 on the dot but in reality, the treadmill needs to speed up first.

I know when I went to LA Fitness to do my run the treadmill didn't calculate the speed up/slow down speeds. Either way, they should be able to tell you the minimum when you get there, but as long as you can do it on about 16kmph normally then you'll be fine.

Also, while on the subject, if you want to practice doing 3 milers too then set you're first 1.5mile on 11.5kmph. This gets you 12:30 exactly (again, I don't think the treadmills on base take pace change into account).

Listen mate.
Treadmills are easier to run on that out in the street. There are far fewer distractions and your muscles don't work as hard on a treadmill.
So if you can run 1.5miles out on the road or over some fields in 9mins then you can do a treadmill test.
