Why are some people so stupid?

I'm just writing this to let off some steam before I hit someone!!!

Just been chatting to some blonde b*tch who seems to know the in's and out's of the forces work in Afghanistan.

Apparently we shoot young children, blow up civilians' homes, and of course we're only in Afghanistan to get opium poppies and take it for our own!!!

How can people be so bloody stupid? Whats gone wrong with this world, I'm sure I signed up to protect the interests of my country?

Anyone want her e-mail address and put her right?

Rant over.....

We're not doing it for that???? I'm confused lol.

Unfortunately mate the majority of people have no idea why we are in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. They seem to read too many newspapers and listen to the next d**khead.

T_T you seem to have been doing this job for a while, will I see this sort of stupidity through out my armed forces career, or do most people approach the subject with a ounce of inteligence and stand back and listen?

Ignorance is everywhere these days. These people don't know their arseholes from their earholes. I'm guessing she probably wasn't even willing to hear you out?
If she wasn't then that shows what level she's operating on.
Ask her if she want's a flgiht out there so she can see what it's really like. I wonder how she would respond to that. Let's see if she could justify her claims when she see's what the real score is out there. Stupid cow.

If I could get people like that out there I would.

But life isn't that simple, people are over sensitive nowadays. Or maybe I'm eventually getting old?

The stupidity of most people is not just confined to ignorance about the armed forces either. I've just been to the local Marks & Spetznatz for a shirt, when we got to the front a fairly long queue, a guy who looked to be in his thirties (old enough to vote, have children etc...) wanders up and asks "Are you in the queue?"

No, arsehat, I just like holding wrapped up shirts and standing near tills.

And know I dont think It's because your getting old, I'm only 20 and people like this make me think prison wouldn't be so bad afterall....

Know the feeling mate. I had a very 'heated' chat with a young lady the otherday. When we got onto the subject of doorman (Which I am) she seems to think she was right, and completly disgregard my knowledge and experience. I was annoyed, but just put it down to typical sterotypes.

THEN. I mentioned I was hoping to join the Royal Marines and she first of all told me that she could join if she wanted. I tried pointing out it's for gents only, but nope, that didn't go down well!

Then she went on to tell me that you dont have to be fit at all to join the military these days, espeically RM/Para's, and that anyone can join.

After a lot of arguing ,mainly from me! I decided to throw her out of my venue lol.

I HATE people that are so set in their ways, and think they know it all. Some nobody trying to tell me that what ive spent my whole childhood dreaming off,and years preparing is for nothing, and that anyone can join, and realing off heaps of 'bulls*** facts that she swears by because of what she sees on the news and reads in papers.

I hope she landed badly. I'd say I hoped she landed on her head, but by the sounds of it, that probably wouldn't have bothered her much...

Don't put us all down as ''stupid.''

Unless you/yourself or close mates / immediate family have experience of military life then we most likely don't know.

It's a steep learning curve for us all .

And please do not tell me this an excuse for getting abusive with a female!

I am privileged to moderate on this forum.

That is the first and last time I am willing to tolerate that sort of crap.

Mate remember this is an open forum where people from all walks of life come and view tone the aggresion towards the women even if you meant it as a joke it's still offensive to other people.

Being in the armed forces isn't just about being a soldier it's also being a decent citizen and having commonn courtesy for other people and their feelings.

Rant over fodd

I'm assuming that wasnt aimed for me?

Either way she deserved to go, but I was just trying to make a point as to how annoyed I was getting having to explain and re-explain everything, only to be told I was wrong!

I'm sure Benny didnt mean any offence.

Apologies if my comment was badly worded, I was not aiming to be aggressive. The point I was trying and it seems, failing to make, was the lack of brains on some of these people is astounding. I was not aiming my comments at any specific gender, I was expressing my irritation at this type of person in general.

At least, that was the idea.

I have encountered one or two individuals like this myself, and I havnt even joined yet. More than anything they strike me as uneducated and small-minded.

Alas some people can have umpteen uni degrees ranging from History to Media Skills but seem to lack that most important one, a degree of Common Dog/Sense as nine times out of ten they have never attended the SCHOOL OF LIFE and learnt about it.

My boss when I worked for English Heritage was a Doctor of History plus he had quals in loads of other stuff but was totally all at sea when it came to interacting with persons of a non academic bent due mainly to the fact that he had never had much to do with the real world such as most of us on here are aquainted with.
