Hi all,
I've got my PGAC on the 21st of April and i was wondering how you get to specialise in being a sniper once you have started your career in the RAF.
Any help or advice would be brill.
Thanks

Ummm yeah, I gathered that. Cheers dangermouse

.......
What I meant was do you just apply? Or do you have to get nominated?
And how do you go about it all if you are a regimental Gunner?

Hi grantbrown
To be able to go forward for a sniper position in the RAF regiment, you are expected to serve at least 2 years and then you can volunteer and put your name forward for any specialist roles such as 2 Squadron (para) or sniper. When you first enter the regiment you will serve with a field squadron so be aware!!!

Before you can do a Snipers Course you must be profficient with the LSW(Light Support Weapon) which entails a sharpshooting course.
The snipers course is as physically demanding as the Para's course and requires an immense amount of patience and a hell of a shot. You will find how good at shooting you are when you take the APWT's in your TG course. I was one shot off marksman.
Good luck though all it requires is a lot of determination and you can do anything in the Forces.
