I have a slight heart murmur. I have had it all my life, will this be a problem when I try to join up?

No one on this forum can answer that question mate. You'll find out soon enough on your medical. It's no reason not to try, though.

All the best,
Mr Purple

No need to be like that Doc, I'm right. No one on this forum can offer accurate medical advice on a specific person. My mate who's in RT now had a heart murmur, but was passed after extensive screening. Some do, some don't. The only way you'll find out is by having the medical.

In a way you are right, but also you are wrong. But being a STUDENT then you must be right.

Good luck with recruit training, I bet you'll put the whole corps right, being right and all.

I honestly don't see what the problem is. If you're going to diagnose this lad's heart condition and asses his suitability then do so. If you've got an axe to grind then PM me.

AND01 PM me your condition as told you by the doctor, some murmurs are ok some aren't depends

If yours is ok then still expect a full investigation into your health.

Before you apply a letter from your consultant will help if he thinks you'll be ok

So whilst I can't offer internet advice on someone I can't examine or see, there are levels of murmur and lots of things to consider, and advice on how you approach things is helpful as walking into the AFCO saying I've got a murmur will usually get you binned by the fat crab fat on the front desk.

Unless student boy purple still thinks he's right and can offer better advice than someone whos been there and done it.

Doc, I think MrP was simply trying to say that it's not wise to seek medical advice from an online forum, he was not saying that he knew better. This point has been raised in the past when various members have tried an online dianosis when the obvious course of action was to go and get examined.
