You have a weekend off, then you are drafted to your unit or start your SQ/TQ course. Some are run at CTCRM: Sigs, Clerks, SA's, Assault Engineers, Heavy Weapons, whilst stuff like Landing Craft and Drivers courses are done at RM Poole. Or the drivers course was once. May be done with the army these days best ask some bod who is in for that info.

Royal Marines aren't always stuck on ships. Ships do play a big part though as the Royal Marines are part of the Royal Navy.

Royal Marines are trained for every environment, so yes the jungle. They are waaaaay better than the Army. Marines kit will be a lot more advanced than the Army's as far as I am aware.

To start with I would change the way you type mate, you wont win friends or influence people around here by typing like that.

Secondly all this information can be found on the Royal Marine website.
If you want to join you should at least be motivated enough to do some proper research on the unit.

And thirdly (just because its a pet hate of mine when people ask it) no, you will not be always stuck on ships. The Royal Marines havent been 'stuck on ships' in the way you imply since WW2 and even then there wasnt that many (going by the research I have done)

Nah Royal Marines are never stuck on ships. They have to swim everywhere now, thanks to the tosspot labour government  :o

Seriously though, all this information is avaliable on the website.

Jordy 1,

Take no notice of 'Owd Git Artist'.

Yes sometime Royal Marines do serve on ships.

After all they are Naval Infantry /Commandos.
A waterborne spearhead force second to none.
Of course they also use other methods to enter
the battle area to seize their objective.

Remember if you join there is a swimming test.
You will be issued with an inlatable rifle, water
wings, inlatable matress and full size barbie doll
to assuage any lustful intent. Of course you will be
issued the full gucci frogman kit and a smashing
set of flippers and fins. On Woodbury common
you will learn how to to cam up and blend in with
the natural environment like a frog in a lilly pond.

No boots for you my lad just nice green wellies
to match the beret.

Finally the definition of the word marine is;1/ found
in or produced by, the sea, for use at sea; of shipping.
2/ member of corps trained to fight on land and sea;
country's shipping fleet or navy.
