Alright folks been a while since my last post on here, too long maybe. Well been out of the RMCTC for a while now, I had a groin injury and was hard for me to recover so I was "MD" But it's time for me now to get back in now and finish what I wanted to become, a solider!
Though I'm stuck between which regiment to join, I have always wanted to become a RMC though I don't think my groin could take the elite training again so I'm thinking either, Royal Irish Regiment, Irish Guards or Rifles. But I need some help in choosing, so please folks if you know any information about either of them let us know cause it will make my decision easier.

I'm no body to speak here, really but my first thought was... If you're groin isn't going to be good enough for the Royal Marines, will it be good enough for the army?

Is it too badly damaged to give RM training another crack?

Cheers for that, well if I join the Marines again and get injured I'll be stuck in Hunter troop, and I would not be able to leave for four years as I've already been in, thats another reason why I don't fancy it. I'm looking to sign up to the Army next year the groin is healing though I want to get the pre training tests out of the way so I can get my date for next year then work towards it. CTC is tough and from the friends I was talking to in the army and comparing the training, I reckon I'd have a better chance of getting through. Also Army pay is better than Navy.

If you really want to be a soldier pay shouldn't matter at all, I'd still do it for free as long as they feed me of course Stick with the Marines, heal your self up, rest and get back into training slowly, theres no point joining another regiment, you gotta be stubborn mate and give Lympstone another crack, don't settle for anything less.

Nah, well it's always nice to have some extra pay for the outgoings like and booze. But seriously I have thought about going back, it aint as strong as it used to be. But thanks anyways for the input.

Why don't you try the Guards, something a bit different I suppose!

Your still going the have to do rucks of Running, leaping and jumping in an Army Infantry Regiment. Lets face it the Army Guys are doing the same job as Bootnecks do in both the Gan and Iraq so if I was you I'd think long and hard about Soldiering as an infantryman. Ever thought of another option? Say RA or the RE's?

You could still get the Green Lid via the AACC and still do a job that is much needed by all in the forces.

One thing I have strongly considered is joining the RE to get 'qualifications' when I leave and then try to attached to the RM via AACC.

Seems like a good idea to me for a bit more variety in jobs, although I fully appreciate there are many jobs in the RM and being attached isn't the same as being a full blown bootneck.

Mate don't let the booties distract you RE or signals do something with your brain.. you will be worth a lot more useful, and when you find yourself back in civvy street one day.

When it comes down to it all members of the armed forces are trained to do a specific job and thats just what they do regardless of their capbadge or choice of uniform.

It's just that Bootnecks do it with flare and panache!!!!!

My brother's RE and he's wicked clever. He learned lots of skills including advanced IT ...
I'm going for RM because that's the challenge I want, likewise RE was what motivated / inspired him.
Horses for courses, we all need each other...different challenges all asking for different parts of a finely tuned mind & body
