The Boots

Just passed my PRMC and been issued with boots to wear in, are you allowed to buy different boots? As mine don't quite fit right ? A few lads on my PRMC were already in the forces and I'm sure they kept their boots. I saw a few Cpls wearing some that were different or do you have to train in these thanks very much.
I'm not moaning, I don't mind the boots I'll get used to them but it just crossed my mind.

You can only use issue boots mate.
Dont go buying your own. Go to the AFCO and tell them, they should be able to sort you out a better pair.

No you have to wear issued uniform until you pass out of training, only then you can buy your own boots.
You'll be given a second pair of boots and drill boots upon arrival - if yours don't fit you'll be given the opportunity to swap them when you are having your kit issued or afterwards (the sgt will usually allow you to head over to the stores to swap equipment/uniform that doesn't quite fit).
If you want to avoid the hassle you should probably go and buy your own, which will give you the opportunity to break them in and make sure they fit correctly - you don't need the blisters from just marching about and standing up ironing all day!
You'll be in the sh**house if you even think about wearing your own type other than the issued.

Soundies
To be honest they do fit (didnt want to sound like a wimp) but saw some cpls wearing these ones that looked the nads and looked like they resembled slippers inside.

Guys: I would totally agree with Artist on this. I also got myself a pair of German Para boots after I left basic training and they were superb.
Cheers

Pro boots are similar, but obviously not the same as standard issue Mason. As such, avoid!
Tom, the ones you posted look almost exactly the same (I reckon a copy, I've seen a few of those) as Lowa boots, the mountain ones of the all black leather line. There's a higher one that goes much further above the ankle named "assault" i think. I have a pair of the mountain ones, top boot. Only thing is, if they get wet inside they stay wet for a while because of all the stuff in there, but even then I've not found them too uncomfortable.

The main reason we used German Para boots was because they don't look out of place when wearing rig. If they don't come in the colour black then forget it in other words.

Jammin, the Hanwags shown are hoofing boots, tho you're right in they're being similar to Lowas. Scarpa are another popular make, especially for yomping...with enough dubbin and polish, you'd be surprised how black brown boots become, to the point where in the field nobody will notice. Obviously you won't get away with it around camp.
But none of that matters til you've cracked CTC Tom!
