Hi all,
I recently applied to the Royal marines for direct entry (Officer). I got my date for the POC for the 10th of December which is far earlier than expected, thus i do not think my fitness standard will not be high enough. Is there anyway of pushing this date back at all?
Thanks in advance Gav.

Yes, tell them you're not ready. I'm sure they can understand that you want to make a decent showing.

How bad is your fitness now?

My fitness is not too poor. I can run the mile and half in 9.07 minutes, and overall long distance i can keep up the pace of 7.5 min/miles for around 6-7 miles. However i can only achieve around 35 press-ups, full sit-ups and about 3 pull-ups. If i was to ring up and tell them i will not be ready, will they just give me a later date? Any advice would really be appreciated at this point.

You've got nearly a month to work on them, you should be able to make a big improvement in that time.

Don't panic, just get busy!

I've got the programme from PA Greenwall, it's really good.

Wkdgav,

What stuff outside school have you been doing to get noticed? I've 6 months to spice up my application so anything would be good!

Did you find anything in particular helped with your physcometric test? I've got 1 more chance so again, any advice would be great!

Thanks :D

The POC is extremely tough and you should be aiming to be over-prepared for it. If you do not feel you are ready, cancel it and get yourself mentally prepared as well as physically.
