Hello!

Im New Here

So i'm 16, very interested in going in the army, and I got my DVD, info pack etc. And going to the Local Army office in the next couple of weeks, this site and all its members seem to have alot of information and great advice.

I Was just wondering if someone could tell me is there a height limit on the army. I am very thin and 'lanky', 6ft at the moment and still growing. My Dad is 6ft 3 and he applied for the army when he was in his 20s but they turned him down because he was too tall and thin(along time ago).

Any Help, Greatly appreciated :

Hey,

I'm 6ft 4 and have had the initial interview and had no problems, I'm sure you'll be fine! My younger brother is 6ft 5'' and he's just passed out of basic training for the RE.
My next younger brother is 6ft 6'' and applied to be a pilot in the RAF but they turned him down because he's too tall, so perhaps its only positions like that which have height restrictions...

If your BMI (body mass index) is too low they will not let you in the army.

In other words, if you are underweight then you need to start eating like a pig and putting on some weight.

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmi-m.htm

This calculates your BMI for you. Look on the left of the screen and it tells you what is normal weight, what is overweight etc...

It is using the Metric system, so get yourself on the scales at home and see how many Kilos you weigh.

I believe I've seen the minimum stated as both 17 and 18 on the Army website. Either way, eat more pies.

Get ramming as much scoff down your neck as possible!!!! Go to the gym and start doing some weights, get some muscle bulk put on you! :o

Are you an obsessive runner or something? Or just one of these weird people who eat sh*t loads and dont put any weight on?? :P

Im guessing that you need to be "Normal" which is 18.5 according to that website.

Good luck mate. And get eating and pumping iron. 8)

Hi mate

Start eating NOW as in literally go to the fridge right now and eat a portion of food approx half of what you would have in a normal meal

Do this 6 - 7 times a day focusing on high carbs / high protein in all meals

And weight train, and keep the CV up but make sure you're in constant calorie surplus

www.muscletalk.co.uk is a good site for weight gain diets etc, you're lucky that you are at an age where your body is literally screaming for nutrition constantly so you should grow quite well

Don't be downheartened if you're turned away for having too low a BMI just take a year out, keep up a good phys routine and believe everyone that tells you it's all diet

Good luck bud
