Mentioned him in another post but this is Swasie Turner
Since the traumatic loss of both his police career and his right leg due to an act of violence in the line of duty, which has left him confined to a wheelchair, Swasie then suffered the inconsolable loss of his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart Marjorie to the scourge of Cancer.

Totally devastated by the death of his beloved wife and lifelong sweetheart, Swasie then decided to raise money to fight this indiscriminate killer amongst us. He became a relentless, dedicated and totally obsessive crusader for this cause. Right from the start, against medical advice, he performed unbelievable feats of strength and stamina with his caster’d, standard issue NHS Lomax wheelchair.

He was at Lympstone when I was in Hunter as a motivtional tool to keep lads on the right track when everything seemed crap. Apart from being a spot on bloke he was funny, sincere and downright tough!

He completed the 30 miler and endurance course (including tunnels!) in just his wheelchair and was awarded the green beret for oustanding commando spirit. Amazingly these were some of his easier challenges!

Outstanding bloke

When i had my operation i was told that i might want to re-think my career options. My first thought reaction was, and still is "f*** right off! I know what i can do and no one can tel me otherwise".

You have to more than admire that blokes spirit. Thats awesome. 8)

Still great to hear of people like him these days. Especially when you hear of how people are poisoning emergency water supplies in the flood areas

Met Swasie in Hunter Coy too - a real inspiration it has to be said. He loves the Hunter Lads, loves the corps.

Another honourary green lid I saw in whilst biffed was Jimmy Saville . . . that, I can tell you, was a very surreal sight.

In the gym hiding from the RIs as you do and in walks JS in a shellsuit, gold chains, cigar and green lid. Made my day it did
