Just heard that the Trainasium is now not done anymore so smile. However you're still going to have to hack your fear of heights on stuff like the assault course which I dare say will be along the lines of the Royal Marines Tarzan Course.
I did my para course in 1975 but because I was a Bootneck (Royal Marine) I didn't do P coy. We did Commando Training which was considered suitable. Also please sort out your basic English as in use upper and lower case when it's required.

Very close relative works at an ATR.
Am informed they have Health and
Safety checks around the assault
course. Some obstacles are deemed
to be unsafe and are no longer used !
Bet you some so called H & S expert
has put the mokkers on it which is just
ridiculous.

Surely instead of using the assault course, they'll go and build another piece of apparatus which does what the trainasium did. I.e replace it, or would that not be a likely thing to happen?? Just a thought.

the man that said you do not do the Trainasium is wrong ive just found out that you have to do it still. Is there any paras on this site that could give me an insight to it and, how hard it is and how many injurys there is whilst doing the event and if they new anyone that was s**t scared of heights before doing it and know any of there recruits in there section or platton scared of heights when they started training and what happens if you do not do it.

Bud.... what good is asking people if they were S*** scared of the trainasium going to do . I wasn't too appreciative of heights before i joined the marines but i got on the high obs course and just got it done ,worst that will happen is you fall off...

. But seriously if your that scared of doing that then maybe you should reconsider joining the forces.

I have to agree with marinewannabe, if you really want to be in- then you'll do it! I'm not thew greatest with heights, but i'm just gonna do it.
I'm guessing that if any of the lads in the regiment were to tell you, they would all say: "shit that looks high, come on then!"
As the officer said to me and a few other guys when we completed the oath;
"many men before you have completed the training, many people will and many more still will continue to do so when you have"
Hope that helps,
Chris

Trainasium is buckshee. Easiest event on P company so dont worry about it. Trust me you'l do harder things than that in depot.

Artist - they were still doing the trainasium last week, and didn't hear anything about it being binned.
Paratrooper is right, it's the easiest event. Just keep your nerve, focus on where your feet are going, respond to the commands given by staff, and you'll be fine. Nobody has failed because they died on the jungle gym, but people regularly get binned on it for freezing or refusing to attempt pieces of apparatus.
Also, being scared has f@#k all to do with it. I'd bet most people get scared by some bits of the trainasium. The fact that they control that fear and get it done is exactly what it's testing.
