Yeah thats annoying, well done to him though. I reckon the 9 months and 2 weeks bit probably includes hunter troop time, only explanation really.

The press are always getting facts wrong, it's just how it is. They don't have time to fully research every story they report on so a lot of it (all of it if you read the tabloids) is bollocks.
As for this guy passing at 17 and being the youngest, a friend of mine currently serving joined straight after school so I'm pretty sure he was 16 when he passed (not 100% though). As the minimum age for joining is 15yrs 9mths I would be very surprised if he was the youngest.
Just out of interest, how big is the Northern Echo? Reason I ask is that this sort of thing would never get published in the Portsmouth News, they're too busy telling us what scumbags we are rather than celebrating any achievement anyone has ever made.

ASBO generation has just become a fashionable word. For every dirty thieving scally that is accidently churned out, there are atleast ten polite, helpful, young adults willing to achieve.
The press know this, but it's far more interesting to condemn this generation
