I was just wondering for people who have failed their PRMC, Do the AFCOs put a bid in for you to go down in six months time. Or do they wait a while, i know it sounds stupid because it is a really long time away but im pretty eager to know when ill next be going down to CTC.

Thanks for any help.

hi mate,

i failed my PRMC back in october last year and was told to try again in 6 months. i think the length of time they give you to get up to the required standard depends on how badly you performed.
i contacted my AFCO in february about getting a new date for mid april time (which they did) but i had to postpone it due to an injury and im now on for the 5th june 8)
so basically if youve been given 6 months to wait, contact your AFCO 2 months prior just to confirm that youre still wanting to join and they should get a date out to you.
hope this helps. all the best.

Well i failed mine in January due to an injury, got told to come back in four months but still waiting for a date now!!, better still i went into the AFCO today and have to refill all the security forms and have another interview!!!

Cant remember how long the security forms usually take to clear, any suggestions people??

Still have to look on the bright side, I'll be able to do more training so Lympstone will be a lot more enjoyable!!

All depends on your AFCO mate mines quite strict and rightly they should be as my train ticket alone was £400+ so they'll want to make sure second time round you get a pass.

PVTDoughnut was back down there pretty quick!!

Just going/gone through this process myself, with second PRMC this in two weeks; the security forms, if I recall correctly, went through this time in about a week and a half, which seems quicker than before, the interview was also lighter with less questions about the marines, and more orientated on why I wanted a second shot and why I wouldn't fail this time around. PJFT retake shouldn't be a problem (now under 10 minutes) if you're preparing for PRMC, and I had to retake my medical aswell, which is always a barrel of laughs, so look out for that too. The system for the eye examinations has changed since my first application too, and you need to have the results form with you for your medical, so make sure (if you have to retake it) that you get it done well beforehand.

It won't take long this time around as you have already been granted security clearance so it's more of a formality, unless you've comitted some offence since you last put in your forms.

HAHA I did a 3 month wait to help get over being ill and boost my fitness, it really is suprising how fast it all comes around though! Once you have that date it just flies up :D

I was given 6months and then 6months later almost to the day got a letter from an officer at lympstone inviting me back. By that time I was at/off to uni and injured anyway so havent been back yet.

Didnt know that id have to basically go through the hole process again. Now thinking about joining the royal engineers though, not sure i could wait another 6 months it feels like a long time already and it was only the 1st when i went down there.

Like PVT said though once you get a date the time does come round quickly, and you'll be wishing you had longer!

if your application results (pyschometric, interview, medical, eye and PJFT) are still valid (im sure theyre valid for 1 year?) then you wont have to go through the whole process again and the 6 months flies by!!
also if youre considering other branches of the armed forces already after 1 knock back then perhaps you dont want that green lid enough. not wanting to start an arguement, but think long and hard about what you want to do.
all the best mate,

Medical, PJFT and interview are valid for 1 year (although your careers office may wish to reinterview every few months to check on you), after which time you will have to retake them. Psychometric tests are valid for more than one year, possibly indefinitely.

Took my Psychometric March 2005 (I think) and it's still valid for my application now. I think 3 years is the max time before you have to re-do it.
