Hi

I have a POC I June so I’m learning as much as I can about...well everything.
Anyway what I wanted to ask is whether you will be expected to have learnt the pennant numbers for the ships e.g. F99 -HMS Cornwall.
I realise this question could be a bit of a wah but I’ve got the time therefore I could learn them.
Anyway I would rather ask and look stupid here.

Any suggestions about what I should be learning about ships anyway?

Seriously, the Corps have little to do with naval vessels, although I've never done a POC I doubt you have to know anything more than the very basics about Bulwark, Albion and Ocean - in fact I'd be surprised if you have to know any more than their names and LPD/LPH.

Just waiting for someone to pop up and tell me I'm talking out me arse now...

I've not done POC (yet) but all I was told to revise was pretty much like Druadan said, know basic details of HMS Albion, Bulwark and Ocean; and a bit about the purpose of the LPD(Auxilary)- I think that was just that they existed and how their role differed from the Assault ships.

I've done all that off by heart and was thinking, "its can't be that easy". I'm learning as much as i can because i've got the time and it can't hurt.
Perhaps it would seem a little on the nerdy side to know all of that.

And again already done it. Thinking about it i am probably sorted when comes to ships. And that was the last thing i was thinking about so i guess i'm done. Just go to keep myself as fit as f@#k.

Looks like we'll be down at Lympstone at the same time jonno. If you have your PRMC on the 5th and i have my POC on the 4th.
No doubt we will be kept apart though. Shame, no chance for a natter.

I read a POC diary on this forum site and it said that on the AIB that a canditate was asked to identify a ship on the wall by it's pennant numbers. So maybe it won't be a bad idea to know a few...

On your POC they wont expect you to know much about the Navy, just get your knowledge of Albion, Bulwark and Ocean up to a decent level
