i guess the normal application time is about 4/5 months ? (from initial application to PRMC)

Does anyone know if this can be sped up at all? Its just i would rather get to lympstone for a PRMC ASAP (going to careers office in the next couple of weeks) so i could get it all out the way and have all the summer to train hard! (wanting to join in september ish time as im currently at college)

Help from people who actually know thier stuff will be very appreciated

Cheers guys

you will have to have a written test, then interview, then medical, then pre joining fitness test - 1.5 miles best effort on threadmill, then you will go for prmc, and if you pass prmc, you will start recruit training anytime ranging from 2 - 10 weeks, longer if you want.

I think it's difficult to get through it faster than they can do it!
I said I wanted to get through everything asap when I first went to the AFCO and so far it's taken me about 9 weeks to get to PJFT which I'm doing this week, then will be about 3 - 4 weeks to get PRMC.
Problem is they don't just do things in one hit so it's come in have informal chat then book written tests, pass then you'll book interview pass then medical etc I guess it depends just when they can fit you in!

If you're looking to join in September that should be pleanty of time. ;)

Takes Time

I guess these things do take a fair length of time guys and they all say patience is a virtue.

However, your impatience just shows how keen you are to get on with it and truly that's a very positive plus.

Just use your time to build up or maintain your fitness. You'll be on your course before you know it.

All the very best

I know Hankins (I think it was him anyway) did his interview, medical and PJFT all on the same day.

Special circumstances though as he had travelled over from Canada, so they probably did their best to help him out.

Why don't you just ask your AFCO?

Down here medical and interview are done on the same day. If you pass the medical you can be doing your pjft the next day if you want.

In fact last time I applied I did my exams on the tuesday then had my interview and medical on the wednesday.

All the various facilities are near the office though, docs is 100 metres down the road, gym is next to the docs.

It also depends on the speed of your afco and the speed of the departments they have to send the various documents too.

cheers for the info guys

I recently remebered that i took and passed the psychometric test as part of my college course, so once my lecturer finds the certificate im pretty sure that will mean i wont have to do it again.

Also i was going to join the Army last year so ive already had a medical with them, does anyone know if this will mean i could possibly use the armys results rather than having another medical with the RM?

Help will be aprriciated

jstyles,

I see you live in the south west, I did mine in bristol and they had me on a medical after about 6-7 weeks(failed medical). Also they seemed to always do the PJFT straight after the medical which is convenient. But then again I did hastle them to put me through quick. the lad who I did my medical with was on a PRMC 10 days after the medical and PJFT. But this was two years ago.

Basically just state it that you want to get things done!
