To be fair cod liver oil is said to work wonders for anyone, but as for all the vitamin talk, it's all in foods for **** sake. Be a good boy and eat your greens.

Ive been told by a Marine mate that for RT its good to get heeps of glucoseme sulphate into you, to strengthen joints etc for the hard work your going to be doing in RT. Also Vitamin C needs to be taken with Iron or it wont work.. so get a bottle of Iron + Vitamin C in one.

not sure how much you know about this place..
but when you are here your body will not work normally at all due to the stress it is under. just saying eat your greens is totaly pointless. the gally does have good food but i try and concentrate on carbohydrates and protain or i will be f***ed. there is not much in the gally to get such vits from. little but of brocaly and colly flower. i think people need supplemty diets. iv never used them before i came here but i have never done this sort of thing in this time scale. also liveing so close to other people in such a way dv can go round like wild fire.
medical exsperts please correct me if im wrong

I thought vitamin pills/capsules were just a gimmick, or for people who don't eat a balanced diet. I've never bothered with em and to be honest, I can't see the point if your getting good meals down you.

Exactly. If we all need our vitamin pills so much then how did anyone manage 50 yrs ago, before this pill frenzy. They ate proper food, which contains all of the vitamins and minerals you will ever need

How about reading what he said before you post eh? He said trying to get the carbs and protein in is much more important, and that the greens etc aren't always there. So what's wrong with taking other supplements, exactly the same as taking a protein shake.

TRUE.However i would say that supplements have the plus side of being quick and easy to consume, making them more practical.I for one am not going to stuff a full chicken into me when i can get just as much protein from a small shake.Obviously you dont want to overconsume certain vitamins, but the likes of vitamin C is not retained by the body anyway and the surplus is pissed out if im not mistaken.
I do though agree that the pill frenzy has gone too far,i mean you only have to look at the RDA on some vitamins and one tablet is usually 500% RDA or more!
Then again i would also argue that supplements especially the likes of creatine and protein have a certain placebo effect on people:they think they're stronger for taking these supplements and therefore they are(its the whole mind-body link thing).
BUT its also important to remember these arent magic little pills and need to be taken in conjunction with a healthy and balanced diet also.i would only advise to take them when undertaking intense training anyway(like RT) and would personally only take a multi vitamin and a seperate vitamin C.

In what way can you tell they're working? Are your joints less stiff now or what?
Vitamin tablets are for girls.

Lodgi, i'm sure you're just having a laugh but when you get to recruit training you'll do anything to avoid any kind of illness regardless of whether it's "for girls".

iv been takeing cod liver oil and vit c for a long time now started because my dad did (not a good reson but when your like 11 it seemed the right thing to do) i also eat a healthy diet and find im very rarely ill, im not saying this is all because of the vit C i naturaly seem to have a good imune system but i gess every little helps.
as for cod liver oil, my grandad takes it every day and has been since he was a wee nipper hes now 89 and walks from his house to mine and back again 4 times a week which is roughly 6 miles and takes our dog for a walk four or five miles so 10-11 mies a day! which i think is amazing and shure hope im doing the same at that age but he clams it does him the world of good and he seems to be right but it wouldn't work with out a good diet i agree. But i certanly would say it helps (if only a little) and to say they are for girls seems a silly thing to say seen as though boxer, runners of all distances etc use them... you wouldn't go calling rickey hatton a girl!
They dont do you harm and even though they arnt nessicary every little helps!
