Really interested in going for Marines and eventually SBS!

Hi there, new to the site, I'm really keen to get into the SBS one day and obviously I know Marines comes first so I'm going to join that group first then just quickly go onto SBS ASAP.

The only thing is though, www.how2become.co.uk don't offer a free shirt with their SBS CD-ROM pack for joining the SBS. I'll take the CDs down to AFCO it might get me straight in without even doing the Marines training? Who knows I might not look the part without the shirt???

Anyway, I think I might just go for regular army as on www.how2become.co.uk they offer a free green shirt, which seems like a better deal.

Any advice is appreciated but at the moment I am thinking regular Army.

Cheers,

milestone.

At least you smile about it.

I have nothing to smile about, I've spent 20 years inside, in solitary confinement, I never even had a window in my cell.

I've probably done billions of pushups though.

Explain Please? Quite a few Army Guys do the CDO course. RA, RE, RS, RLC, ACC, AAC, APC the list goes on.

29 CDOREGTRA down South in 82 were the dogs bollocks. They worked their arses off 24/7 to assist 42, 45, parts of 40 attached to the Welsh Guards and 5 InfBde during the assaults on the hills around Stanley.

They are to a man Commandos and will move heaven and earth to help and assist Royal, ditto the Royal Engineers, ditto all the Army blokes who wear the Green Lid and work with the Corp. I am a Former Royal Marine and let me tell you now the Army lads wear that Green Beret with pride so bin the stupid comments ASAP!

Sounds like you have just what it takes milestone - crack on.

L'Artiste, I think Johnny was just getting into the light hearted nature of this thread.

Also I came across plenty of Army lads who weren't Cdo trained who were top notch and some who were that were complete choppers. The Army is the Army and whether cdo or para trained or not makes no difference. I worked with some kind of RLC Port Maritime Squadron in Norway and if they weren't as good at what they do (with mexi floats) Royal would probably be stuck bobbing about in a boat taking incoming - probably couldn't run for the bus but a top bunch of lads.

I don't think you meant it like that but comments can easily be read the wrong way.

Ok, I will make sure I fully understand what the thread is about first before I comment.

I want to join the Marines to be one of the best at what I do. If the army are so might I as well join the army?

You have misunderstood. No matter what part of the armed forces you are in you will find extremely professional and hard working people
