In RT you do heli dunker drills in week 13.
My bash was interesting, as I released my safety belt early, (so went flying around inside like a demented washing machine) then found my oppo stuck in the exit window!

Hahaha, you made me laugh at 0716hrs
Did you get the stick for releasing early, or didn't they know?

We did dunker drills every now and again after training. You'll get some wag (me once

) waiting at the exit with five to follow for a bit before exiting from the craft in slow time and panic stations behind. Seeing your oppos off (and getting seen off yourself) is a big thing in the Corps
It's always funny until somebody gets hurt - then it's hilarious

This was completely unplanned!
The lad who got stuck didn't actually get out, I was last man out and we all managed to somehow contort out. They lifted the "dunker" out and he was crying still stuck in the hatch!

I can remember being sat in a Wessie 5 flying off Hermes during a States trip when the pilot must have got bored and hit the red warning light whilst we were still about three miles out to sea!!
Weapons on deck, feet placed on weapons, ALJ's all sorted ready to inflate, arms locked, sphincters quivering like mad. Light went off................The Pilot was pissing his sides laffing when we disembarked. Ooo he didn't half get some dirty looks from us so he did!

Nice one Artist. We nearly got tangled up with some power lines in a Sea King over land (obviously, I suppose

) - the aircrew hit the klaxon and all eyes went to the stick i/c John Cess (sadly now departed ironically in a helicopter 'incident') who had the headphones linked to the pilots on. His face was a picture
Dunker drills aren't pleasant if (like me) you like to breath regularly but I'd take my chances with the oggin any day. It's good stuff though - panic and you're shafted. One of the best lessons you'll learn in life.
