It sounds like its really heating in Iraq and Afganistan, if they are sending all 3 commando groups?
I heard there was another death today by friendly fire.

Sad day for our military.

Everyday is a sad day for our military in the eyes of the media. I'm absolutely sick of hearing about only the bad things that come out of what our military is doing.
Why doesn't BBC news etc actually report the good things and the heroic stories of the guys out there risking their lives rather than concentrating on the bloody and unfair death of one indiviudal or the "brutal torture" of known terrorists. It makes me wonder if theres really anything left to fight for in this country without it being turned into a negative anti-British inquiry.
I might be considered a "Racist/Bigot" for saying it but i'm proud of what our troops are doing out in Iraq/ Afghanistan.
It's a bloody shame.

I agree JCAP, it shows how the liberal media twists the perceived situation to create a feeling of hopelessness amongst the british public. No doubt the situation out there is dire at times and all the deaths are tragic but personally i feel our media is totally f*****g useless when it comes to being even handed. Problem is most journalists are nobbers

I understand what you're saying Jcap. Bad news is good news in their eyes because everytime a soldier dies or makes a mistake it's more fuel for their anti-Blair fire.
Don't get me wrong, I'm neither for or against Blair. I supported the war when we the invasion first started and I stand by it now, even though the situation in Iraq appears to have gone nowhere.
Yes he's made mistakes but who honestly thinks anyone else would have handled this situation any better? You? Me? The Tories? I think not.
The news that has appeared today about the 'friendly fire' incident reminds me of a similar incident in 2001 (I think) whereby a Marine recruit was shot dead in a training exercise at Lympstone.
Jeremy Clarkson wrote a very good article in The Times shortly after this basically outlining that everyone makes mistakes, it's just unfortunate that the Royal Marine's mistake of loading a live round in with a load of blanks holds far harsher consequences than someone in an office accidently putting the wrong letter in the wrong envelope.

This is true.
Take a look at the book Weekend Warrior, it's a good read about REME bloke TA'er who went to Iraq. He says a lot of good stuff we are going there gets ignored.
Modern media likes nothing than a funeral to gloat over look at all the vultures hanging aorund for George's Best death. They are sick.

That's the one. Was trying to find the Clarkson article as it outlines some good point but haven't had any luck.
