Get the latest issue of G&L every 2 months, it tells you there where they are and where they're going (and where they've been). Sorry I'm not too helpful in directly answering your question but I can't find my copy, believe they were on Vela deployment but that has now finished so I don't know, have an idea but best wait for someone who knows the answer (don't want to look like I'm spouting shit).

goto:

www.royal-navy.mod.uk site and goto marines. then look at Royal Marine Unit Profile or something like that.

then click on each Commando unit and goto news.

IT should say on there. IF not surf www.mod.uk

Off the top of my head:

The majority of 42 and 45 are in Helmand, Afghan. 40 are the lead Commando and currently in build up training in the UK, tho no-one seems quite sure where they're going yet - Afghan or Iraq in the summer the most likely two options. Some elements of 45, 539 and probably others in Iraq (3 Royal killed there in the last couple of weeks, one in Baghdad, two in river patrol boat), UKLF CSG mainly Afghan, CLR supporting everywhere, mainly Afghan, some Op Vela (Sierra Leone I think, don't quote me - big amphibious ex/op). Usual detachments will be everywhere, Diego Garcia, Falklands etc, plus exchanges with just about everyone, mainly Dutch Marines and USMC.

Hope that helps a bit, exhaustive detailed list always in the front of Globe & Buster, AFCO should be able to sort you out a free copy if you ask nicely.
