Hello,

I have been trying to think of ways to make running more fun, and more interesting, keeping me motivated to get fitter and fitter.

Although many of you may see this as a good idea, I think that it is a better idea to do "normal " running  closer to your PRMC/POC, I have 2 years so I can afford to fark about with ways of making it interesting.

Running:

DOING A MINIMUM OF 3X30MINS A WEEK. (As a base for training)

What I’m doing now, is doing 3 circuits, each involving many interesting factors on the way.

It is much like circuit training in the way many exercises can be added in.
However the difference comes in the absurdity of the exercises i am putting in.

Example circuit:
(4mile run)

(0.5)-50 press-ups, 50 sit-ups
(1.0)-200m sprint
(1.5)-rope climb over river, (including a full regain).
(2.0)-100m crawl
(2.5)-400m sprint
(3.0)-50press-ups, 50 sit-ups
(3.5)-river crossing, wading through river neck deep.(possible a canal)

Just an idea, what do you lads think?
Remember I have time to fark about so no rush.

THANKS,
Seb

well, enjoy and be sure to get some arm bands for those river crossings.

As for wading through a canal, neck deep, are you serious?
I hope you are not from cheshire, as if you dont drown Artist will have you for getting in the way of his paintings.

its more like chest deep, and its comon practice to jump into rivers here in the west country

Il put a rope across to follow maybe...

But in the past ive done it during Winter, so its not a problem.

Bates,

Try and get yourself a training partner. There is nothing worse than running on your todd, day in day out. It is much more enjoyable going with someone else, plus you can help motivate and push each other that little bit more. It is especially good for circuits, as you can pit yourself against each other, add a bit of 'friendly' competiton, and get the maximum out of each other.

whats wrong with listing to the rocky soundtrack!
(0.5)-50 press-ups, 50 sit-ups
(1.0)-200m sprint
(1.5)-rope climb over river, (including a full regain).
(2.0)-100m crawl
(2.5)-400m sprint
(3.0)-50press-ups, 50 sit-ups
(3.5)-river crossing, wading through river neck deep.(possible a canal)
I dont agree with the stuff in bold, when I was in the holding troop we did some thing similar(but no rope climbing), you could add running up and down a hill as well.

the stuff I put in bold I see would be a bit pointless becuase you may learn to do it... then have your medical/interview and fail and all that hard work would be for NOTHING[/quote]

REALY this is just about trying to make running fun, the water is just for a laugh, and i wont be disapointed in what happens as i have time to prepare and can only give me best, (as many times as possible).

I have to disagree, i do like the river crossing idea... but just wading through a knee deep / low waist deep is enough. ive been contemplating doing a few "splash runs", ie - just crossing a river during a run.. probably nice and refreshing til you find a couple of leeches up your trunks and a rubber stuck to the back of your shin

Training with a partner is great, ive not had much chance to do it, and would really relish it!!

Overall mate, pretty nice idea - 400m sprints would probably be a killer though, especially after 2.5 miles. Although, only you know your limits.

haha got a point... hmm i used to do sandbag carrying up hills.

deathslide is just taking it slightly too far!

I supose its just a normal run with things added in to take mind off "running normaly" as insane as it sounds it gets you fit and it works.
