Quick heads-up lads. Theres a programme on BBC 2 tonight entitled 'Fighting the war'. Its about our lads who fought in the gulf, not the american beano kids who were on the other week. 21:00 hrs is starts, or 9pm for any paras reading this. Should be worth a watch.

Saw the programme.
Good to see that the lads still sticking to the age old policies of "Remain Flexible" and "Hurry up and wait"
Great prog tho' can't wait for next week.

The media.........Some twonk moaning about the delay in getting to the front because a Marine had been killed and then smiling about it as if it was nought but a silly military joke pissed me off in no uncertain terms, "die you f*cking ar*ewipe" sprung to my mind. Really, moaning because there was no helicopter to take them to see the boys in action.....it beggers belief it really does. Sums up this kin country for me!

Looked good. Royal gave a superb account of himself. Liked the look forward to next week at the end! Typical Royal humour "Can't get his armour on cos he's a fat bastard!" OUTSTANDING Marine... take a make and mend.

My thoughts on hearing this was why not load them all in a Chinook, make a low pass over Ba'ath party HQ and turf them all out.

An excellent programme, but having a camera stuffed up your nose every time you turn around must be a pain in the a**e.......... if that's possible!
The Col briefing the press while he stuffed crisps into his face was revealing! No wonder they didn't get the facts right!
The Sigs WO II proffing kit was good, but why didn't they have desert kit before they went!! I liked the bit where he told the female soldier not to have sex as the naps would affect her as she was on the pill!
I agree that Royal came over really well, as ever.

Another excellent documentary methinks. I was very impressed with the troops, though the press officer bloke didn't come across as a happy bunny - I don't suppose I'd blame him spending a war feeding those media chimps information which'll just get warped into rubbish anyway. Speaking of which, they seemed OK for the most part, but that channel four bloke was outright infuriating, he seemed to think the whole war was just there for his career development, if I was that army person being told off because he wants to be in Iraq and sod the troops, I'd be very tempted to glue his head to the sharper parts of a challenger engine and start it up .

The other thing which struck me was the locations, I'm wondering how on Earth they let cameras into the top command centres while operations were going on, it's not as if the BBC are doing a great public service by filming those areas.

Last nights was rather entertaining in parts too....Especially the Royal reaction to the Americans who'd taken the three prisoners at the port! Another priceless tv moment courtesy of Royal!

Col Cox, deputy Bde Comd, was brilliant. Down to earth, practical......... and outspoken!

There was good footage of 40 Cdo on Ocean, and their two 'embedded' reporters deciding whether to take NAPS or not! One did!

The other wingeing reporters at the HQ continue to do what they are best at...... you've got it!

Next week looks as if there is some 539 Assault Sqn footage.

Hmm, I missed most of that one, does anyone know if it'll be repeated soon please?

A great program on sunday, Royal came out very well, especially the Boss calling Elmer "A bunch of nobbers". One assumes this man came through the ranks from his colourful turn of phrase.

He certainly exuded the confidence we are all used to, and did anyone notice the quiet professional way the lads just got on with things, there was not a yell, a hoot or a holler to be heard.

I thought the Lads were an object lesson for all troops serving in such a disordered situation, calm, compassionate and still firmly in control.

As for proffing kit, what's new?

At 1 point though, a RM starting talking to a group of Iraq people as if they were kids i.e every time he hered some1 talk while he was talking, he stoped and acted like some kind of school teacher. In the end I dont even think he finished what he had to say. So the ones who were ready to listen probably thought he was a bit of prat.
