Hey, Ive been reading about qualifications required for the Royal Marines. It said that to be a Commando, you need 5 C's or above for GCSE, but a friend of mine got 1 C and was still accepted. Because of this, if I were to get 9 C's or above (Im predicted 5 A's) would this be good enough to still go for officers training as I wish not to do a year of 6th Form. Due to my age, I'll be 18 by the time I even start training, I really dont wish for that. for me, 18 is old. Time for me goes so quickly. I remember the last 10 years like they were the last 10 days. Ill just change my form thingy ma bobby since I really dont want to wait, might also have something to do with me wanting to get out of the crap i have to put up with. But hey, it wont last forever cause time goes so fast

Im not going for an officer and dont know too much about it, but if your just as good as someone else except hes got more qualifications wouldnt he stand a better chance of being picked than you?
Its only a year, better to spend the time doing the work and also you have an extra year to train. I tried to get out of school every year after I was 16, if I did manage to, I would have joined the regular army, instead I stayed the extra 3 years, got my Irish leaving certificate (A-level ecquivelant (er...and just passed English)) and decided to go for something harder (marines).
Plus think about things you could do after you leave the marines. You will need another career then.

For officer you must have 2 A-levels at D or above minimum or equiv. Most people who go in for officer have a degree and are around 21-23 years old. This way they have the maturity and time to develop and aquire the leadership skills to command troops of the highest calibre. But there is nout wrong with going for officer at 18, as long as your good enough!!

I thought about going for officer, but the problem is even if your super good it is not guaranteed that you will get a place on the intake in September at Lympstone. WHich is a shame really because I hope to apply for a commission after some time in the marines.
