RAF Regt Gnr - Now competition to join!

For those of you considering joinging the RAF as a Regt Gnr, get your skates on! The trade recently moved into 'competition' (like the other trades), which means the requirement for that trade is filling up. If you're going to apply...do it now

Does this mean that the recruitment process will take longer, or that there is less of a chance that you would be accepted into training? I was planning to apply at the start of next year (once I'm happy with my fitness), do you think it might be an idea to apply sooner?

It means that...once you've completed PGAC, your file will go to Cranwell and they will pick the best overall recruits to fill the training vacancies that they have. This tends to signify that training places are becoming short as, for many years, Regt Gnr was a priority trade and entry was free-flow...if you passed AST, Med, Int and PGAC they could offer you a place straight away.
So, in the future, your test scores, interview performance and, probably, your performance on PGAC will be critical for you to grab a place at Honnington. Also, the pass mark on AST for Gnr has risen recently.

Hopefully they'll make PGAC harder to put off the phys biffs or the people who dont realise you'll get shouted at on basics.
