Russians saved in deep-sea rescue

Its good to hear all the crew got out alive and well, a damn fine job by the UK... and others.

Seven Russians trapped deep in the Pacific for three days have
been rescued after their mini-submarine was cut free of nets it was snagged in.
They were able to climb out of the vessel unaided when it resurfaced. Fears for their safety had mounted because of dwindling oxygen supplies.
Military doctors were on standby to treat the men, who had also faced temperatures as low as 6C (43F).
Russian officials thanked the UK team whose robot craft enabled the rescue.

A British navy team which played the key role in the deep-sea rescue of a Russian mini-submarine has been praised by defence secretary John Reid.
The British Scorpio craft, an unmanned underwater robot, sliced through nets entangling the submarine, stranded for three days beneath the Pacific Ocean.
"Britain has a world-leading capability in the field of submarine rescue and we have been able to utilise that capability to save lives.

I think it is absolutely brilliant, that us Brits will fly umpteen thousand miles to help, what is perceived as an enemy! Long may it cotinue and maybe it will bring less tension to the world 's problems.
I am very glad that they got those guys out safely!!

Proves that the Fleet can STILL get anywhere to help.
Despite Cut-Backs.
Putin could not afford another Kursk.

Thanks too a British/US effort...
Now once the Chinese get into some bother?
What happen's then?
They have outdated Russian Subs which they cannot maintain or operate
anyway.
I don't think their asking for Russian help is going to Rescue many of their crews.
Still Gonna happen though.

The Kursk and this happening must make it really hard for the Ruskie Navy to recruit people to go into subs!

When I was in the mob the story was that before they went away their families were stocked up with food thus having to avoid the bread que.

Get a grip mush; 6C in the dark, heavy condensation levels, no warmers kit, reduced oxygen levels (subsequent increased CO2 levels) is chuffing COLD.
Unless of course you know better.

No recruitment problems, it is still a conscripted armed forces and the people have no choice where their placed.

Joint UK/US effort, the spams were 2 hours down the road in Okinawa, we took 22 hours to mobilise & get there and we got there first???? the only things the spams did was let us use their K-loader to off load the ancilary kit off the back of the C-17.
