How's the training going?

Joined a proper competative runner's club yesterday.
GOT A RIGHT SCHOOLING!

Thought I was fit, one of the more conditioned in my circuit/kickboxing sessions, etc etc.

All very friendly, nice gentle jog/run as a warm up then "speed-endurance" work, "what's this going to be?" I thought.

Soon found out, 40 minutes of unrelenting Fartlek around a field/cones.

Basically it was a hard stride/sprint around each the lengths, then diagonal jog recovery. Only catch being the 400m run sections were on inclines, which really told after half an hour. Got through the session anyway, despite being lapped often lol.

Yeh when i first went to an athletics club i got thrashed, we had to do circuits concentrating on your legs. After each leg excersise which lasted 30 secs we had to sprint to the halfway line on a pitch and jog back. This lasted about 40 mins and they start shouting if anyone is holding back. This boy beside me kept on stoping 10 secs before the end of each excercise and was told to f@#k off lol.

I havent been running for about 2 weeks due to shin splints, but ive joined a gym so im doing plenty of rowing, x-training and stepping instead. Going to buy myself some protein powder to help build my upper body strength. Hopefully going away in a couple of months for about 1/2/3 months, so probably wont do my second c@#t next year now. Gives me plenty of time to get in shape.

Theres a running club somewhere by me that runs through my local park. Ill have to find it. Im also going to start going to CT classes that someone recommended.

Hopefoully in about January/Feburary ill be on track to becomming a steely eyed dealer of death.

Haven't long got back from Circuit training and felt a tad knackered :-? from yesterday.

Going on a long "slow" run with group on Sunday morning, up forestry track.

Looking foward to picking up advice, as they seem very helpful and almost all are regular racers to some degree.
