I have just spent a few hours down the boozer with A) mates who are going to be spending the next five days in a caravan in Prestatyn with various step-children and are appropriately depressed and B) other mates who are planning their motoring trip round northern France, taking in the war sites and fabulous eating/ drinking places.

I visited our cheap and cheerful garden centre this afternoon ...my God, middle age is really kicking in.... to be told that they fill hanging baskets at the rate of a pound an inch. Got me wondering as to how much you chaps on this 'ere site would earn at a similar rate.

I'm spending mine ironing my 2 Dress for company commanders inspection in 2 weeks, doing buff belts and all that garber, then the afternon doing drill, all afternoon!!!

I take the train to work two days a week ... saves me buggering about in very old shed of a vehicle on the M6. In the last couple of months I've read both of Andy McNab's 'factual' (sic) books and several of his novels and am now half way through Chris Ryan's new one.

My favourite writer ever is Frederick Forsyth ....

Flighty when the 2nd Batt Scots Guards were in Dungannon/Coalisland a certain writer by the name of G.Seymour brought out a book called "The Journeyman Tailor" it just so happened to be set in the same vicinity and when the lads read about "the 2nd rock on the left after the tree next to the stream" lo and behold it described yesterday's patrol route! Apparently when he named the butcher,baker etc. all he did was move their real names around hence for several years Mr Seymour lived with a death threat hanging over him! So yes some of them are writing from some sort of experience.
However I had the dubious experience of meeting McNab before he was declared Persona Non Grata in Hereford and he was not only boring and up his own AR*E but his Conduct after Capture lecture was laughable as we all thought "what the feck does this guy know about the subject?"

Working - like now, finally over my ex (hmmm), and got my eye on a cheeky little curvy thing behind the bar who has a dirty look to her.

H_N, I, too, got the impression that Mr McNab's head is in very close proximity to his sphincter. And the blurb on the covers comparing his work to Frederick Forsyth is very misleading. He writes ok novels but nowhere near as good as The Master.

I have a chum in Turkey who I swap reads with ..... I'm still struggling to get through a stack of Tom Clancy which I brought home last August.

There just aren't enough hours in the day .....

PS ..... I'll keep an eye out for the one you mentioned. Sounds good.

Doing absolutely bugger all unfortunately.

He's had to go to work (who makes people work bank holidays ?? ), don't get paid for another week and got a 3 year old to keep amused.

It was too bloody cold here yesterday to do anything but it looks like today might be a possibility for some light reading in the sun. Here's hoping.

How do you think i feel. I had the chance to go on holiday with my family for free but i decided i wanted a week at home on my own. They just rang me up and its 90 degrees over there.

Yes i am regretting it.

I don't really want to go anywhere, I can't take the time off but it would just be nice to relax on the patio for a while and enjoy my day off.

My family have gone away for half term to, so im home alone with the dog. Took her down to Formby beach today. It was a nice day up here, so got some sun. Parked my fiesta in front of a huge mansion and passed an Aston Martin Vanquish. I hate my life............
