hello all,

just wondering if anyone knows of any insurance companies that specialise in dealing with the military? I'm starting at Sandhurst next month and would like to get my personal belongings insurance sorted before i go. Endsleigh won't touch it due to the high numbers of people living in the same block - apparently only offer that to uni students. Someone recommended Abacus insurance as they'll include all your issue kit on the same quote - only problem is i can't find any info / tel numbers for them.

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers Westy

PS - anyone else starting May 8th?
PPS - any last minute tips or hints would be appreciated (boots are broken in, ironing boards bought, and I have boxes full of KIWI and Mr Muscle already) anything else?

NAAFI (Norwich Union) are the easiest. They'll insure you overseas, without any hassle. Some people have had bad experiences with them (like most big companies) but I've used them for 17 years and they've always paid promptly whenever I've claimed. They may be a bob or two more expensive, but for ease of use they're well worth it.

I think the number is 01603 205209

Hmmm...

How the army's changed. We used to swear by "Razzle" and "Readers' Wives". What kind of magazine is "Mr Muscle"?

(Too late to make a recommendation...)

you'll probably get someone coming round to brief you up on insurance, there's one that does winchester, but I can't remember the name, they'll cover you for free through training.

Upd: The company is called Abacus.
