It started with a short post from Bootneck, who wanted to know why I was not taking part in the 30mile, My answer, that I was nowhere fit enough and that my wife, Barbara, was ill in Hospital. This was followed by a call from Rob, who wanted to know more.... It has culminated in the most fantastic show of friendship and concern that I have ever known.
Apart from megea bags of get well cards from friends we have yet to meet, by the way the Postmaster at the Royal has changed Barbara's ward address to 'Scallies Ward'!... Official!
Barbara has also received two of the most beautiful beauquets flowers, on the Forums behalf...
To cap it all she had a fantastic framed painting of a canal pub, a place we have known well. I will not embarrass the artist by naming him!.................... "Don't Giv'm Yer Name Evans."
I have, quite honestly, never been so touched by so much thought, especially by friends we have yet to have the pleasure to meet.
Barbara is not well I have to admit, But with your Thoughts, Flowers and Cards she feels so much better that she should. She keeps on saying " Who are these wonderful People who I don't even Know?"
The Royal Marine family is alive and very much kicking and I'm Proud to be part of such a considerate crowd
From us both a huge THANK YOU
Mike & Barbara O'Rourke

Mike
Hope to see you and your better half at the BANYAN.
I'm up at 0500hrs cos me aches and pains caused the Gruppenfueureur to roll over and tell me to go and lie on the floor downstairs! Bloody typical Naval Nurse's attitude. ("sod off downstairs and take a pill")

Mornin all.... We are hoping that the Mam Shab will be coming home on Monday........ I understand from No 1 daughter that I had better put the back of the PM(Zafira) down as she has 7 weeks of crap to bring home.......
Have I got news for her, there is 7 weeks of Ironing, Cat crap in the dirt box, Washing up, my dirty washing, Hoovering, Dusting, cleaning the fish tank out....... Oh mowing the lawn and generally gardening...
I don't expect her to do it all in one day.....but hope it will be cleared by the time I come back from a week on the piss in Lanzorote!.... Bloody good news eh..
Yes she will be running the Bar at the banyan and I shall be propping it up?
Please do'nt let her see this post as I'll never be alowed out on my own again....LOL

Hi Mike,
Glad to hear that the missus is on her way home. You had better look after her Royal, otherwise she is going to learn what you have been up to while she was away. I have the pictures to prove it. Welcome home Mrs. O'Rourke.
Aye - Andy.

Thanks

Good News Mike
Glad to see your good lady is comming home,
Welcome Home Mrs O, remember you have to take thing easy
for a week or two,
no lifting weight over 1 cwt,
only turn half of the garden at a time,
no standing over the sink, washing machine, or
cooker, for more than a hour at a time.
only carry one rubbish bag at a time for the bin men.
only cook meals 4 times a day for your loving husband.
If you follow these rules you will be back on your feet in no time.
Take care

Mike,
Glad that the Boss is on her way back to keep you in order.
You look after her mind...its hard work being pampered in a hospital pit for weeks on end you know.
Seriously though, glad she's on the mend.
Loads of love and stuff

Er... indoors ensconced in chair in front of tele. Wimbledon on and SILENCE
I'm begining to wonder if it were I who had been away for
7weeks.....Nothing changes, Life gets tedious.... don't it
Joking apart you will be happy to know that she is recovering and happy to be home.
This will be the last public post on the subject... Thanks for all your kindness, it's meant a lot to us both.
