What do people think is best? Personally I train at home and run outdoors (as I feel I get better results) although I find it easier to gat motivated in the gym.

I used to workout at home and thought it was doing me alright. After i started going to the local gym i made a hell of alot of progress so I personally would recommend finding a gym. Like you said, its a different environment so it gives you a wee bit more motivation too. If its a good gym you can have trainers give you a good programe.

As far as running is concerned, keep away from the treadmills as you wanna get used to rough terrain outside (plus the crappy weather  )

Everyones different but you need to be doing outdoor running instead of treadmils, for me to feel like i did after that 5 mile offroad run i think i would have to do 10 miles on a treadmill.

Personally id stay away fom the gym. I used to go to David Lloyds and the temptation to have a club burger, chips and a pint straight after a sesh was too mcuh to handle.
