Civilian Army courses

Ive asked before about courses designed to prepare poeple for the armed forces, but to no avail. So im asking again.

Basically, im hoping to begin basic for the Marines somethime in the mid-year and therefore have a few months to prepare. Liverpool Community College does an Army Preparation Course that lasts about 12 weeks, so ive sent an email off asking about it. Ive also read about the Army Foundation College, but its not ideal as it requires more time.

Anyway, does anyone know of other preparation courses for the Armed Forces (army, paras, marines, RAF, - dont mind which). Maybe run by colleges, universities, prviate companies, local groups, Armed Forces themselves, etc.

Thanks.

If you are starting in the Marines, why do you feel you need to do an Armed forces preparation course?

If you are concerned about getting fit, why not get running. You could get a training programme from your AFCO for the Marines PRMC.

A few lads in my troop did the Army prep course, reckoned it was well worth it, a lot easier to work hard when someone's pushing you rather than doing it all yourself. Not heard of any others; unless I've got the wrong end of the stick I think the Foundation College you're talking about is Welbeck, which is a technical college leading directly to Army entry in one of the more specialised trades...but I could be wrong.

Welbeck is an Army college for wannabe ruperts wanting to go for one of the Corps.

I did speak to one lad on my Para insight course who happens to be on my Intake for depot, and he said he was doing some army-run course to get fit. But it wasnt anything to do with preparing you for training, it was just to get fit the army way, open to anyone.

Ive been doing plenty of fitness training for ages now, but fitness isnt all im after. Anything that could be beneficial would interest me.
