Six RM Instructors For Court Martial

I was reading the other day that six RM instructors at the Commado Training Centre are to face a pretrials inquiry on the 17th January 2005.
This is over alleged bullying at the Commando Training Centre at Lympstone in July and August 2003. May be they shouted at some poor little lad who then failed his course because he was upset at being shouted at.

My mate in 45 was telling me about this. The charges according to him are as follows:
- They shouted at the recruits
They swore at the recruits
They got them out of bed at 0600 for a mud run
Oh deary me, how terrible.
I hope the instructors don't get done for it (unless of course they are actually guilty of something really serious).

Rule 1 is "No Poofters."
Rule 2, which follows Rule 1 is "Don't get caught."
Rule 3 is "Do what you are told immediately, whinge about it afterwards.

Are you having a giggle?
Not being funny, and I know the old and bold had it a lot harsher than we do, but that seems ridiculous.
Yes they shout, yes they swear, and yes they'll kick you out of bed for a mud run. Bullying? In fairness I can see how the few muppets that weed their way in could make it seem like bullying, to me it looks more like getting bollocked for not being up to the standard of the rest of the nods. WTF were these lads expecting when they joined up?? I hope the case gets chucked out.

Political correctness rears its ugly head yet again. God forbid that someone be shouted at! What would that do to their fragile self-esteem?!
What utter nonsense. I too hope the case is chucked out. Unfortunately, what with the Deepcut scandal and all, once the word 'bullying' is mentioned by the media with regard to the services, the military establishment is obligated to root out those accused of bullying to avoid being accused themselves of complicity. All it can possibly lead to is the incomparable training of Britains' armed forces being sanitised and rendered irrelevant to warfare. Whilst I myself do not approve of bullying in any way, these men are being trained for war and extreme hardship, and if they cant stand being shouted at, then they are hardly going to last on a battlefield. Well, thats my rant over for now!

Sounds like a load of bollocks to me. I sincerely hope it gets thrown out.

I saw an article on this in the Daily Mail a couple of days ago. My mum suggested that I have a read - So I say "ok" expecting the typical hyper-liberal, big whistle blowing style I’ve come to hate in the Daily Mail.
They shouted at the recruits
They swore at the recruits
They got them out of bed at 0600 for a mud run
This is EXACTLY what the paper said and it completely tore the arse out of it!
I have to say it pissed me off a hell of a lot that certain elements of society and the media would prefer ...........

...I actually don't know what they would prefer... world peace maybe

? (Dream on). It makes me wonder what goes through some peoples mind when they think of a war zone and the troops who have to serve at the tip of the spear. In my very limited time at CTC I was exposed directly to this sort of thing daily, and I know all the guys on this forum who've been down there can relate to it but they all know it's an important part of training especially in the Royal Marines! (as much as they might drip about it). I really do hope (pray) they don't try and get some undercover journalist into training because judging by this article they'd have a ball to say the least... and that would be the end of the Royal Marines

Ha. This makes me laugh. "Poofters"? What you on with? Everyone knows gay people are in the Marines, and every other branch of the Forces. They always have been, they always will be. A bit like society. If you've ever heard of that?
I've heard what went one... and it sounds like bulling to me. Perhaps the court martial will reveal the truth. Or maybe you people who are the Daily Mail pilgrims can't face the truth? Bullying exists in the Forces it always had done, always will do. It doesn't make it right; great soldiers and marines don't need to be bullied to get that way. Grow up.

Lets just see what the court martial says......
If something has gone on, they will be found guilty, if they havent done what is alledged all is well. We cant say 'I hope it gets flung out' etc.. we dont know the facts!

Grow up
Certainly; willing to do so immediately.
Just as soon as you've got some time in and know what the stuff you are blathering about.

If you can't stand a bit of bullying, how the heck can you be expected to face up to the stress of a real combat situation? Much better to find they can't take the pressure here, rather than there.
Bullying is ok to a point, if it's aimed at just a few individuals though with the only intention of making their lives hell, rather than toughening them up, then that's wrong, if only because its pointless.
