They are going to have lots of lovely aeroplanes but nobody to fly them!!"
What happened to Douglas Bader's "Reach for the Sky?".
For the current RAF the sky is too far away.!!
Also. I went to Farnborough this year and I thought that the "Eurofighter", (also known as the "Typhoon") was a total waste of time.
By comparison with the US F-16, the Typhoon, in display mode, came a very poor second.
I was not impressed!!

I agree^ if theres any more cuts let the RAF take the brunt of them.

Where are all the 232 Eurofighters going to be based? Here in the UK twiddling their thumbs when a crisis kickes off! Theres no overseas bases anymore apart from Cyprus and its always a major pain in the ass trying to find air bases and then having to fly the crabs all the way there. When theres a crisis aircraft carriers can reach there first, no need to get permission for airbases or any of that rubbish.

So I reckon they should cut the number of Eurofighters by 15 to 20% and invest the savings in the aircraft carriers and Joint Strike Fighters. In fact I think there should be THREE new carriers, with one kept in storage, although it'll never happen.

Also whoever said the Eurofighter comes second to the F16 has been smoking shyte because the Eurofighter Typhoon is a formidable aircraft. Compare the airframe, performance stats, avionics and the weapons it can carry, theres no contest!

tooooooo right cant see many enemy bombers entering our airspace, surface to air missles, fighter planes, ship mounted anti aircraft missles (at least six diffrent ones), star streak missles, that missle that doesnt explode but just rips through the plane at a very very fast speed. missles from sumbarines and that aircraft carrier mounted gatling gun that i love which is the size of a house ...... The goalkeeper lol great name. It can also shoot down missles and enemy ship shells because of its extreme rate of fire. there is a picture of the goalkeeper on the navy website in on of the picture gallerys.

I said it.

And I said it because I went to Farnborough Air Show, this year and if anyone was going to buy the "Typhoon" on the evidence of the display, would have put his cheque book away.
He would certainly have looked at the F16 because it outshone the Eurofighter in everything.
At one stage it seemed to be hovering in mid-air!
The "Typhoon" is a waste of money.
Stats. do not diguise a lack of ability. i.e the ones that I saw at Farnborough!

What about:
Gibraltar
Goose Bay (Canada)
Ascension Island
Stanley (Falklands Islands)

To name a few.

So on the basis of Sneaky Beaky seeing it at an air show the Typhoon is rubbish? Okkkkk lol

Actually the USAF Chief of Staff flew it in recently and gave it full marks.

So what do all the anti-Typhoon people propose to replace Tornado/Jaguar with?

Hahahaha are you having a laugh??

Theres f*** all on Gibraltar these days and theres mainly penguins and ice on the others lol

The last remaining major overseas base was Germany, which was quite close to the Mid East, but thats gone now as well.

So whats the point of having 232 RAF fighters in the UK doing not very much?

I rest my case.
