Hi mate,
It's just 1.5 miles out in squad, then 1.5 miles back on your own (beating the PTI).

what time should young officers be aiming for on the 3 miler?

For Marine & Officer I would aim for times from 6-9 mins and no more. You may think it cant be done but it can its very hard but can be done. If you can get a 6-9 mins time for the 1.5 mile run then you propbely have a high chance of passing the run. If you would like a time for the 3 miles then I advise to aim for 16-19 mins. If you would like an further advice or just to talk about PRMC, 32 weeks or fitness etc then you can contact me on messenger and email at

MCD Easterbrook, Potential YO's do not have to do the same 3 mile run as recruits on the PRMC. The running portion of the POC is done on the Endurance Course and then the run back to CTC.

When do the PO'S do the Tarzan course and is it true that their training last 13 months?

If you can run 1.5 miles in 6 minutes, you'd not only be able to pass the run, but probably have a pretty decent chance at winning an olympic medal

Woooo...slow down

Alright lads, the times you are stating are very quick!!
1.5 miles should be done in around 8-9 mins and the 3 miler should be done in 19-22 mins. Of course if you can do any of these in less then thats great but dont go worrying yourselves that you need to be world class athletes because you dont!!
Cheers boys

What about the POC? Is the 3 miler the same?

The three miler is a squadded run at a set pace, there's no 'best effort' section but it does come at the end of a very long day. The run is on road back from woodbury common.
Have a look on the "POC?" thread as I have posted the events of my POC in June to the best of my memory.
The run is at a reasonable pace and would be easily doable but you have already done the bottom field/assault course, endurance course and hare and hounds. Get some distance under your belt as it's all about endurance.
