Just thought id drop in and say hello seen as i haven't been on since the start of training. Gym pass out next week! I cant believe how quickly its come round! I won't lie to all you lads hoping to join up, training is shit!!! but its supposed to be, you've just gotta keep pegging away even at 3 in the morning when your de-servicing kit and you've had 10hrs sleep in the past week or something silly like that.
You will hangout your arse and get niggly injuries its all part of the fun :D I got pulled off of marshall star to go to sick bay a few weeks ago as i went over on my ankle badly again. So they strapped me up and popped the pain killers and off i went with a hop and a limp :P and i completed the exercise. The ankles still nice and fat though hopefully it will be sorted for monday.

Enjoy civvi life while you can boys! Hehe

Cheers Ian

(You must know Pete then Rugee). I second that mate training is the shittest thing you could imagine. I've just come back from ex Quick Cover (Wet & Dry  ), it was -2 degrees and I was bordering on hyperthermia during sentry duty. I've never been so cold in my life, I lost motor control in my hands and was mildly hallucinating.

The worst thing about it was having to put on the cold wet clothing. I also got flanked on the final day for having rust on my rifle so the captain had us leopard crawling through gorse and streams for 30 minutes (You should see the state of my arms and legs).

When we got back we were up all night deservicing kit, I had 3 hours sleep. Then had a PT session in the morning where we got thrashed for f*cking up on the team games...Great fun....

There is a light at the end of the tunnel Rugee....Only 13 days till leave mate. But in between now and then I have Ex Marshall Star, which I'm going to try my best to not to get flanked on. Apparently they really beast you if flanked for anything.

Glad to see your doing good lads, the way you describe training makes it mouth watering! Hope I get the chance to taste it.

"if its so shit, why join"

that is a bit of a daft question. its shit because it is, training is not the real world of life in the corps. just a few months of nails phys and being treated like a c**t.

if it was shit after training why would anyone do 22 years? have a think before you post mate.

I have no experience myself but surely things don't suddenly become all fun and games (easy etc) after training?

War is shitty and operating on almost no sleep, not much food, in a constant state of terror, carrying ridiculous loads and often in a harsh environment is not easy. So if the RM's are very good at doing this then they must train as close to this reality as possible, which means training will only get tougher and tougher otherwise you won't be progressing. Just like training for fitness: once you can run five miles you don't stop there once your body has adjusted and it becomes easy for you to run five miles, you run six, or you run the five faster.

I am sure you get more used to the hard training etc. and learn to live with it and even enjoy it, but I bet it doesn't get any easier, in fact it most likely gets a whole lot harder (the training) as you become a better, more qualified soldier.

Anyway, just my opinion.
Cheers

It doesn't get easier, but it gets more interesting. After wk15 pass out (wahey, that'd be me now then 8) ), you get far less of the admin bullshit, like field kit musters and locker inspections, because you're expected to be able to look after yourself without anyone checking on you. Stand by if they check your kit and it's honking tho'! BUT, everything gets harder - the phys, the exercises, the sleep deprivation - train hard, fight easy.

From what I've gathered from the training team etc, life isn't easy after training, but you get a lot more home comforts, especially on base. In the field, you can make your life a lot easier simply because you can use your own kit instead of using issued gash. You get more variety too.
