left, but to rejoin?

this post is pretty much the same as one i've just read... to cut a long story short i joined 843tp in nov '02 struggled like hell thru training with a knackered knee and after 1.5yrs of loveliness courtesy of cpl 'nice'(!) and a spell in hunter i came out at week 29.
now the predicament, i would love to rejoin but can't really test the strength in my legs without the fear of getting injured again. fast yomping and that god awful 30 miler killed me last time and i don't want to be the troop biff again! tarzan was hardest test and anyone worrying about the 1 underwater tunnel on endurance, don't! you'll be glad of it when you're breathing out your arse

<face on all tests!
my familys pushing for me to join the police at the mo, only police i want to be associated with is the ones scraping me off the pavement after a few too many down the ol' dog 'n' bone!
as for advice to anyone here who wants to go for training i have these words...
do it - don't worry about it - make good friends - and when it comes to kit inspections etc 'the crime is getting caught'
you're capable of everything they throw at you so just get stuck in and dig out. training is quality and you definitely reap the rewards in personal pride and feelings of accomplishment.
p.s stay away from any girl in exeter called lauren! she's a grade a psycho and loves nods (yes, she's one of the ones they tell you about in your first week!)
www.savedutcy.co.uk <<< that bloke is a living god and i hope everything goes well for him

Excellent post Darren
I had a similar problem with my knee and i hate the fact you always have that niggling thought in the back of your mind, what if or can my knee take it
On my PRMC there was a guy who had got to week 19 and left because of family problems and you could tell right away that he had done training because of his attitude.
Anyway goodluck on what you do next and keep us posted

yeah cheers for that mate, seems like we're the only 2 up at this silly time of the evening!
looking thru some old pm's and Gaz69 was in my original troop with me and he's now out in the states doing black horse this yank ex thing. one of my best mates from back then is up at 45cdo so i've got all the reasons to do it again and none of the reasons to stay at this current shit job here in good ol geordie land.
i'll be more than happy to answer any questions people have, sorry if i sound like i'm trying too be an old sweat or anything cuz i'm far from it - doing tests is nothing compared to what i've heard about unit phys as i'm sure any of the trained ranks on this forum will tell you!
admin and the bullshit of training i'm not worried about, it's crap and you get on with it - simple as... just my god damn stupid excuse for a leg is the annoyance!
then again though, do a search for captain j bonney or swasie turner and that's true heroics for you.

Are you still training at the moment ?
What would you say is the biggest thing you miss about Basic ?

didn't have to think about that answer... the lads without a doubt. even now, i still keep in touch with as many of them as possible. you make excellent friends that mean so much more to you than your civvy drinking mates.
as for missing somethin 'within' training, probably the food cuz there was lots of it and i like me scran

field firing was my fave part of training.
as for training phys wise, i could never let myself get porky cuz i like doin phys and running and stuff but not training anywhere as near as hard as i did.
the pub beckons most nights

it's going to be a big decision and not something i'll rush into, prob have to discuss with the boss -ahem- i mean the lovely lady of my life and see where we get.
definitely going to spend next few month preparing and seeing physios and loads of walking round on one leg fun! balance and proprioception, oh the joy!
i can see it happening though, like i said earlier i miss the food too much

Darren, you mentioned about your knee. My right knee at the moment 'clicks' when I walk downstairs, or sometimes when I walk. When I had physio, I had her check it out and she said I had nothing to worry about, but to be honest, it's worrying as I just keep thinking that one day I 'could' be yomping along and my knee gives way!
It dont cause me no pain....yet......but I got my PRMC at the end of this month so I cant really go to the docs just yet to get it looked at. I know it sounds stupid, but what sort of knee injury did you have (if you dont mind me asking)? Would it be best for me to get it checked out, or just ignore it for the time being?
Sorry for asking these dumb questions!

it wasn't really an injury as such more just the way i'm built. my right knee is a wobbly little thing because the fibula bone in ya lower leg doesn't sit right in the groove of my knee bit (so technical!

) causing instability when load carrying. basically my left leg is laughing at my right leg coz its having to do twice as much work!
as for clicking, not really sure mate. i knew loads of lads with clicky knees and they never had any problems. if you're not having any pain now i doubt you will ever and training will build you up strength wise and mentally to ignore the lovely discomforts of yomping

Dave, I get a clicking noise in my elbow sometimes when i do press up's, i think it's something to do with synoptic (sp?) fluid in the joints that can get traped and cause that sound. As far as im aware it's quite common but doesn't affect you physicaly in any way, it's just a bit irritating.
