Was speaking to a mate today, trains in MMA (mixed martial arts) three times a day !!!
Apparently Sodium Bicarbonate (baking powder??!?) can help prevent the buildup of lactate in/after a workout
anyone heard of this b4 ?

Found this if it helps:
"Sodium bicarbonate can help your running, if you're a sprinter. Sodium bicarbonate acts as a buffer against lactic acid. Lactic acid is produced more readily during anaerobic exercise, like sprinting. However, in a longer distance, 5K or longer, research has shown that sodium bicarbonate has no effect, and as the distance increases some subjects experienced severe cramping. So take heed, unless you 're a sprinter, stay away from sodium bicarbonate."
Best to leave it alone then unless you are a woman with cystitis

I find Creatine is the best for stopping build up of lactic acid.

Bicarbonate of soda neutrilises the build up of latic acid in the muscles as its an alkali, so stops the burning effect. I tried this once: you put 40grams with half a pint of orange juice. It tastes like crap and you continually burp for 5 minutes due to the release of carbon dioxide.
Dangers of this type of supplementation is a addiction if you take it too much. Only do it 3 times per year max, as the effect wheres off if you do it more than this!
If you want to try something to give your workout a real buzz, and i do not reccommend you do this, but just for a educational purpose i shall write it- as it can be dangerous! Professional athletes have done this and taken a huge amout of time of certain distance events, as a result it is banned!!
I'M A SCAMMER SPAMMER!!! cuboard stack
Analgesic (prevents pain): 2-3 crushed paracetomol- with:
Stimulant (prevents feeling of fatique): 2/3 cups strong black coffee
Buffer- Bicarbonate of soda (neutrilises latic acid by delaying OBLA) 40grams in half pint orange juice.

About 10 minutes is best prior to exercise. A warning though, people have died from taking such stacks as you can increase blood pressure without noticing.
But hey- get it down!!!!
