Hey Guys,

I thought you only get 2 attempts?

If you've been there once you know whats required.

You can have three attempts as long as CTCRM allow it.
I failed both previous times on the three mile run, i have never been a comfortable runner at long distances, i will be the first to admit though, i just gave up.

I know that feeling, the first time i was put on the vehicle, the second time i was 300m from the finish. It's the worst feeling in the world.

Rjeary, you know your weakness, work on it. If your other scores are still up to scratch, lay off the upper body stuff a bit and just maintain the level, and concentrate on running a moderate 1.5 miles followed immediately by a hard 1.5 miles, do some fartleks, that sort of thing. And don't give up 300m from the finish line  . On my PRMC the lad in front of me passed the 500m to go sign, and stopped. After yelling at him a bit as I caught him up I grabbed him and got him moving again...then the cheeky barsteward decided to give chase over the last 200m, me hanging out had nothing left, which resulted in a bollocking from the Cpl for almost being caught by this guy who was 50m behind me as we came round the last corner 8)

GruffC, might see you on the train then, I start Foundation on the 6th

Thanks for the advise druadan, i'll knock the training up and just keep going. Good luck in foundation and the weeks after.

Rjeary, what date is your PRMC on as I'm down on the 15th. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of time are you doing the 3 miler in just now when you're training?

Hi,
I don't have a confirmed date for my PRMC as yet, i have to run the PJFT this Thursday which wont be a problem as i'm running 1.5miles in around 9.50 at the min. I usually run 3miles in around 20mins at the mo, bearing in mind that is on fresh legs i need to get some more training in.

Dude, with 9.50 for 1.5miles i would start getting some sprint training in, u need to get that 1.5 miler time down to 9 flat :)

As above. 1.5 miles in 9m on a flat road. 3 miles in sub 20m on a flat road again. Soon as you've done your PJFT, screw the treadmill, they're easy, soften your ankles (apparently) and give you shin splints (from experience). Get on the grass, if you can do 3 miles cross country in 20m you'll have no worries cracking the 3 miler on PRMC on the nice flat lanes.

Right lads, I have my date for PRMC....18th October, have been training like a b*stard! PJFT 9:32 and did a CFT with the TA at the weekend, finished with no problems. I think i'm about ready for this now, gonna keep training fitness wise but mentally, i'm ready.

I was told one peice of advice by an old ex-RM, and it applies to any part of the army/Navy, and that is NEVER to give up, even if you are crawling along the ground because your legs wont work anymore, you keep going and complete the race.
