I read somewhere that the world record for pull-ups was broken by a bootneck. Does anyone know his name?

Im not sure on the pullups but in the green bible it says how a PTI in the Marines holds the world record for doing 116 press ups in one minute.

Yeah I read that but I was mooching in the Guiness World Records book and it was a bigger number that 116 and no mention of RM.

Anyone confirm / correct this?

Cheers Minimac

I recently read about a bloke who did a few thousand push ups, breaking a world record. He wasn't a marine, just some mad fitness enthusiast. I think a bootneck has broke some kind of push-up record, though. The guy with the pull-ups, I think he's done the most in one go. I'm trying to find out.

Royal Marines PTI Sgt Paul "Dixie" Dean holds (or held, not dure if he's been beaten yet) the world record for press-ups at 116 in a minute. Glad that's not a PRMC requirement!!!! :o

It was Alan Sharkanay, holds world record for doing 239 pull ups in 1 hour, and record for doing 2101 in 24 hours. His advice was to get on the bar consistently.

B@#&$cks he's a US Marine, not a good old british bootneck. That's put a dampener on it. I read about him in a British Magazine, and all it said was that he was a Marine. Ah well, at least a British RM broke the push-up record.

Paddy Doyle I think is the record holder of just about every strength and stamina world record there is to beat. He used to have a website at http://www.stamina4life.co.uk but it no longer seems to be there. :-?

I couldn't find any other website about him, but he is on the Guiness World Records site under a few records there (not every record there is, is included on that site). I think he was in the TA as well, he holds the record for the fastest speed march (can't remember the distance) if I remember right.

I've just read Paddy Doyle's book "IRONMAN". It's quite a good read, some of the numbers he is pushing out are amazing. He has a record for doing 1,500,230 press-ups in one year. He averaged around 4,500 a day whilst being monitored by a guiness world record official. He's an ex-para............so the book says.
