Hello Everybody.
Just a feqw lines to introduce myself. I've checked into the forums as a guest several times now and thought it was about time I joined up for real.
I first joined up in 76 when I joined the RE's as a junior tradesman at Chepstow. Didn't like it and left for a civvy apprenticeship but immeduiately joined outr local TA Bn (6RRF). 3 years later joined up full time (1RRF) and did the full monty and finally left in 2001 after many, many happy years of fun times, scrapes, booze fuelled "When I" sessions and good ole' hard work.
Very sad when I left, found it very hard to be a civvy (still do) and now refer to myself as a retired serviceman. Tried driving for a living as I'm ex MT PL, money in NI for drivers is a joke. Did fibre-optics and computer network installation for pre-release, hadn't been invented in NI when I left hence the attempt at driving.
Finally a shining light appeared on the horizon, the RUC were recruiting again albeit with a name change to the PSNI. Iapplied and much to my surprise I was accepted and joined up in Dec 2001. I'm now serving in Londonderry and enjoying it. Money's not bad, mates are ok so it'll do for a while. Trouble is, and I'm sure most of you have experienced this, people who have no forces background have no sense of humour, either that or I have a twisted one. However I am having fun educating everyone.
Hope I haven't bored everyone.
This is me.
Andy.
