AFCO visit tomorrow...

I'm off to the AFCO tomorrow for a visit...nothing formal but I'm still scared!
Is "dress to impress" a good idea? I was thinking along the lines of a smart pair of jeans, a pink shirt and my black boots. Smart but casual!

It's not an interview as such, just an organised visit.

Sounds alright to me, youre first visit will probably just be discussing what you're interested in and what trades will suit you etc. When you go for you're tests and interview you obviously want to dress formal.
Any ideas about what trade you're going to apply for?

Hopefully Intelligence. (ironic, I know!) But failing that, an aircraft photographer

Sticky's right you know - ANY time you go to the AFCO, dress smart, whatever you're going for. Doesn't have to be a suit, but i wouldn't recommend going in jeans.

I'd suggest clean black shoes, black trousers and a smartish shirt or blouse.

Then you can make a good first impression, but still really impress them by getting your suit out for the P2 presentation, and your initial interview. Don't forget to clean your shoes!

If I were working in an AFCO and someone came in for a first chat dressed in jeans I know what I would put on the initial contact form. Whenever you go to the AFCO they will be making mental notes. You must know better than me so just crack on...
Sorry Sticky, I was just going by what worked for me in my navy application.
I Wore jeans, trainers and a jumper to my written test and got through although i wouldnt recommend this, out of about the 10 - 12 people on my written test there where 1 or 2 in shirts the rest just casual and a couple in tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts.
When i went to my interview (i obviously attended in smart dress), i started chating to the bloke next to me who was their for his interview with the army infantry and he was a wearing casual shirt and jeans. I wonder if he got in?

No offence intended, but AFCO staff can normally guess what Service an applicant is interested in as soon as they walk through the door......
Shell suit and baseball cap = Army
Jeans and Casual shirt/T-Shirt = RN / RM
Shirt and Tie = RAF

I rest my case.

Army? He was probably overdressed!

Eh! lol. I wore a suit to all my RM selection procedures, so did most of the other guys. It's just that the potential nod wears his pink shirt collar outside the suite.

oh yeah!
I'd go with Stick's advice. It's all an interview even if you're just looking at videos and talking with a recruiter there are mental notes being taken as to how you project yourself i.e. nobber or not.

I didn't want to over do it! And it wasn't an interview.

Take it easy, she's not exactly applying to be Commander in Chief of the RAF.
Although if i was you i'd dress smartly, but not too formal.
