Hi folks...

I currently applying for the RAF under the trade of either Flt Ops or Provost.

Now i've read the threads on Provost here (with much amusement...LMAO actually) but there's nothing on Flt Ops.

I know roughly what job they do, but has anyone got some live stories or comments on it.

Muchly appreciated

Mike

Flt Ops is a very diverse job that involves coordinating the myriad of functions that directly support the aircrew. You will spend your time assisting aircrew in preparing for sorties - acting as a link between the Station, Intelligence, Air Traffic Control, Fighter Controllers, Engineers etc in order to ensure that pilots can concentrate on the business of flying. You will also be involved in the coordination of operations - scheduling flights etc, in conjunction with the requirements placed on your units (shipping cargo, conducting combat air patrols etc etc etc).

If you ring RAF Shawbury and ask to speak to someone at the Flt Ops school, they'll answer all your questions in far more detail.

Cheers for that Biggles1211.

I spoke to the careers office on Friday. They are trying to arrange 2 visits for me at Linton as both my choices are based there, and near to me (Provost (P&SS North) and Flt Ops)

I did start the ball rolling myself, speaking to the Station Community Relations Officer, but the Careers office said they can do it faster and arrange a better tour (if that's possible)

However, your post = very usefull
