How long can I defer my application?

Post by Fox »

I have applied to join the army back in Jan this year. Finaly I got a call today to say I have been medically cleared (I had a few medical problems etc).

The careers centre asked me to call them up again for an interveiw and for a date to be set for the selection test. I have already passed the barb test etc.

Now a few things are affecting my decision to go ahead...

1. Family want me to stay and buy a house...which I am not too keen on anyway.
2. My mum is muslim (me too) and wants me to take her on pilgramage to Saudia Arabia next feb which would last about 4 weeks.

Can I ask for my application to be put on hold until next march 2005?

Or can I go for the selection and if I pass can I ask the joining date to be say next march?

I became 27 years old on march 26th, so many of the jobs that were open to me before are no longer, which I dont really mind.

I want to keep my promise to my mother and then join the army next march 2005.

Is this possible?

Many thanks in advance for replies. :)

if you leave it that long i think you have to re-apply, but i think they'll keep your medical info so you dont have to go through that grueling process again.

I think you should just go ahead now, if you're 26 then you aint got no time to lose really.

But seriously ask the guys at the AFCO
