Hey you know all this stuff about overloading and if you continually do it you start to 'not know when to stop'. Is running till you puke then running some more but twise as far until your legs burn bright red a good way of preparing for PRMC? Hmmm, i dont usually stop running till i feel like i'm gonna die. Any tips?

Dont overdo it mate. Organise yourself a progressive training plan. Dont work too much because you will end up injured. Give yourself a couple of rest days each week and make sure you do upper body work.

This is what my running program basically looks like:

WEEK 1
Mon - 3 miles
Tue - 3 miles
Wed - Active rest (bike/swim/walk)
Thur - 4 miles
Fri - 5 miles
Sat - Sprint work/ 'fun day' ( hard workouts, beastings. long jogs, etc)
Sun - Eactive Rest

Every 3 weeks I add another mile onto each day, except Monday which remains a 3 mile run. This is only my example. Its important to have your own plan because everyone is different overwise you wont reap the benefits.

No, thats seems fine and you sound like you have thr right attitude.

I never had any rest days and never tapered off towards my PRC either. Like Jon says everyone's different -if it works for you then stick with it, if not change it.

I found that if I trained flat out everyday I started to pick up injuries, just little niggles really but they ended up causing me to injure my knee quite badly and failing my PRMC so I'm building up much more progressively now and allowing myself a little more time to recover, I've had to take nearly ten weeks off with my injury and beleive you me it sets you back big style.

It just means that you are hot. Your blood capillaries are basically flowing nearer to your skin to speed up heat loss. Is not uncommon to see steam coming off your body after a good hard workout. Make sure you drink plenty of water though.

i was thinking, the moderators know more than anyone else so maybe one of them could post a kind of training plan for preperation for prmc, lets say for someone who isn't really fit to begin with. Of course each person is different but a basic structure would be nice.

cheers

There is no point, the plan will never be suitible for everyone maybe a plan highlighting that everyone should change it for them selfs

Today i got up and decided i hadent done enough training lately so i went out and ran 15km. I didn't go red, i went purple because about 50% is uphill. Is that the right attitude and do you think it will get me through the training no problem, or am i going the wrong way about it. I heard from alot of people that they push you harder than anything you will have experienced in your life. What if i increase the number of kilometres by 5 each week? Will that prepare me fully? Oh yeah btw, when i feel like im gonna puke, would you say that would be enough or do you think i should suck it up and run twise as far?

DO NOT OVER TRAIN.

Everybody has a different maximum training threshold, you have to find your own.

You do need to train very hard for PRMC but no matter how fit you are when you get there, you will be pushed that little bit further. It is about fitness but also equally about mental attitude.

Train your body hard, But also train your mind to not give up!

Good Luck

Over-working your body can lead to very serious problems! Take it easy for heaven's sake. If you feel you won't be ready in two months, then book your PRMC for three months. It's not the end of the world if you train for another month or so.

I must agree, working to hard constatntly can cause injury.

I was always told that you should work at about 70%/75% of your maximum heart rate, to get a good fitness increase. Working over this is ok for a one-off session, but to work over your 70%/75% regulary can be dangerous.
