I make a point to the following ........

Please do not abuse the board by posting unnecessarily just to increase your rank -- you will probably find the moderator or administrator will simply lower your post count.

We have a new member who joined on the 15 Apl and has in the 13 days reached the dizy rank of *Rising Star*(118 posts and 13.11 posts per day)! Now I have no problem with this, where Intresting and jovil banter is concerned...but when inane crap is passed off as threads and I have to slog through the like, I wonder what's happening to a wonderful site..........
Any in coming will be read and replied to, with due consideration

Bullets [Points ]

Hi Guys
Whilst on this subject of the points system, I agree with the system in as
much as it creates an interest and a goal to aim for, But as Mike has
stated,it is abused, with one liners, and even one worders,[ if there is
such a word ] I see that you are taking steps to combat this issue,
But I have noticed that there is a forum [ jokes ]. I know I and many
others have used this one , but I have noticed also that on many
occasions these are the only contributions they make to the site.

Most of the jokes are not original, but are copied from other sites
and pasted on to the forum, were as I agree we need the presence
of Joviality, and banter, may be this could be a no points forum,

Personaly I dont worry about the points,as you know I was one of the
many who were here when we moved from Tony.s site when he had
problems and I am more than pleased to see how popular and
successful it has become [THANKS JAY ]

On the subject of post ranking, last year it was new to us. As each of us moved through the rankings each change was the subject of comment. My waffle about "fellow celebs" in St Trop, for example. There are more posters now, so individuals reaching targets is rarely mentioned anymore.
Sometimes one liners (or one word-ers  ) are enough to get a point over. What we`ve just seen was either a deliberate attempt to raise an individuals ranking, or over one hundred examples from someone who is missing the point of this site.
It does what it says on the tin. Military Forums.
Not Military Boredoms
The ranking system indicates to new or potential members those of us who are having a mis-spent middle age, Rob Parry for instance :o
cheers, John

It's no big deal if guys get points on the Joke page, for example 'jos' rarely posts elsewhere but I still find his contribution very amusing! After all, the points aren't exactly that important, are they? The most they say is, 'I spend a lot of time on my computer', -hardly desirable! At the end of the day, they indicate roughly how long an individual has been posting for but don't carry much weight so I wouldn't worry. Incidentally, has anyone become paranoid as of late that their posts are too brief or shallow?? :D

Agree with you Dan, about points. Not about brevity or depth though.
Content and intent
Good luck to you, bud

Will people from another continent taking the urine out of a fellow shapeless hulk please return to this continent so that I might place a few dints in your shapeless bulk. Middle aged! I'm only 32 (oh I'll never get to heaven now), it's the mileage, not the bloody year! :D

it's the mileage
Oh behave!!
(Second line) For sale: 1 (late 50's (now there is a compliment I hope!)) Parry, male, one careful owner (nursey) and one not so carefull owner (Pusser), bodywork and chassis in need of some attention (cracked in places), engine in good working order, management system and central processor needs some serious attention. Low mileage but all miles done at the speed of sound so some joints are worn!

The bullet system is great and those who are bullet hunting soon become apparent! Simple answer... drop their posts to an accepted level!

The bullet system was introduced, or so it seems to me, as a bit of fun. Somebody will always blow the arse out of things, but as ever, the best response is furtive and surreptitious. We have our ways, and Beast has the switches! A gentle reduction or counter reversal would be hilarious. The more you post, the less it shows in the window, sort of reverse ageing.
