My advice would be to nip across the Severn bridge and head up to the Brecon Beacons of the Black Mountains. Great county to spend a day doing some nav and getting some solid exercise!

Well worth the drive and good challenging walk especially if you do all of the peaks at the brecon beacons.

Three peaks in North York Moors (My territory

). 26 miles or so, to be done in under 12 hours.

Yeah they still have the clocks in Horton, did it last summer in about 9 hours, definitely worth doing with your mates especially for the beers at the end of it.

Why not tab to Bristol and go around Ikea a few times? Thats normally enough to wear me out!!!
On a more serious note you could look at the Kennet and Avon Canal. Its not very "uppy/downy" BUT you can get a lot of speed/distance work done, and its brilliant for building up fitness... plus navigations not too tricky!!! And if your desperate you could do some swimming on the way back!!!
