I remember people talking about a united commonwealth over an EU so I thought I'd post this site. I haven't read it through properly so I don't know what to expect, at first glance though I say good luck to them.

I wish mate, but I think its far more likely to have an Amero an a Euro.
You could jump ship and we could make the UK Amero. :)

It is early but don't give up hope. I'm sure the first person to think of the EU was laughed at, now look at where it is. I believe a better future is in the commonwealth rather than the EU, and given the support, or lack of, for the EU here I think the idea of Britain joining a fedral EU is doomed to failure.

I was talking to someon about the 51st state idea, and technically because of our population, Britain would have a much bigger say in congress than the two biggest states or up to 15 smaller ones, if we split up into England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland we would have an even bigger say! :o That would mean America would be virtually British! :D Suddenly I'm in favour of it lol

I like the idea of a Federated Commonwealth, it would certainly go a ways to sorting Africa out and making Britain strong again.

What about a Federation of The English Speaking people. This would cover a large number of wealthy Countries and some other emerging countries. Most of the these countries have the same out look on life, most of them are very democratic.

Tab,
Would that include the United States?
I'm feeling increasing animosity from Great Britain, not only in the press but also from some members of this forum.
I really think a re-constituted Commonwealth would be good for the UK.
Well,just a thought.
Wholley.

An English speaking union would look too racist to the non suporter and I'm sure it would end up being used against us. A fedral commonwealth would include any member of the current commonwealth that wanted to be a part and who could conform to agreed law and meet there obligations.

Wholley, I've not noticed and animosity to the US on here or generally. There's always the odd anti US thing but that's usual agsainst any superpower.

Aldo,
I don't consider myself a Super Power.
I'm a retired truck driver and an ex cop.
We,like you guys are endlessly duped by our Governments into falling for their agendas.I was stupid enough to vote for Bush because I thought he could make a difference.Turns out he's really a big government shill with no intention of returning law making to the States where it belongs.
Sorry if I sounded shrill, but I do get sick of pointless American bashing.
Let's just start on the French again!!
That should get Frank going!!!
Wholley.

Aye, the commenwealth we should bring it back to the days of 1930 eh.
OK I got a plan, first we here in Canada have technically only been an independant country since 1982. So I'm sure it wouldn't be all that hard to get back into the swing of things. Lets kick Quebec out of Canada, then pu the Great back in Britain, then invade Quebec problems solved.

Wholley, I wouldn't take all the bashing to heart, over here it seems to be more towards the government but using the term Americans instead of America, it's generally known what they mean. I don't think anyone here is anti-american, are they?

If only it were that simple, but you forget that we'd have teach half them to speak English which I am not going to shell out for :)

Do recon there'd be much support for this idea over there then Ben?

Wholley, why shouldn't America be a part of the English Speaking Federation they do speak it, well sort off any way. Aldo are becoming Politically Correct worrying about what people would think of it. Most Pacific Islands and many of the Caribbean ones speak nothing but English. India's main language is English and so are many of the African Countries, mind you I would only want the ones that have a fully working Democratic government.

I know tab but in this case I think it would be Ok to worry about what people think of an English speaking nation. I mean it would be pretty bad if China or someone decided to go on a crusade against the evil anti-non-english racists wouldn't it, and the chances are the EU and most other non-English speaking nations would join them.

I don't think just speaking English would be enough to form a new super power of a Union/nation. Although it would be a good place to start, I think that alot of the economic players from the Commenwealth would be in, such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa to join with Britania we all have a common heritage, common language common culture etc. I am quite sure in alot of other nations this wouldn't be a viable option as for example in the United States there is a very strong feeling of nationalism and nationalism isn't something to be cowed very easily. While the Commenwealth was the Empire and still for the most part is attached to it even two or three generations later.

Wholley is right. The states are being forced by the federals to become colonies for ethnic minorities. Many here are starting to wake up, especially since seeing the plight and self destruction of California. Really looking around and seeing the anger in the average Americans eyes over this latest infringment of our laws by our leaders I predict that if things continue something in our society will snap.
No state wants to be like CA. My dad works electrical construction and says the contractors used to hire American kids to do their ditch digging and cable laying for 12 bucks an hour, but now more than often the contractors are hiring illegal aliens to do these jobs for 6 bucks an hour. The result has been they got cheap ditch diggers, the problem is my dad used to hire the hard working kids as apprentices to work on his line crew to do electrical work for 22 dollars an hour. Problem being he and his crew don't speak spanish and the illegals are illegal #1 and have no math education so there are a shortage of electrical constructionmen. I've been telling you guys to resist in anyway globalization, the UK can stand alone, so can we. If we continue down this path the rewards will be few and far between for the common man. Welcome to the start of global slavery.
