Stick's,
Agree entirely with your sentiments regarding texting.
My son does it every time he mails me and it annoys the hell out of me.

I agree to, I’m 18 and I can form properly spelt and punctuated sentences, so the rest of them can as well... It’s not hard to do guys and gals...

by using an asterisk in the offending word, it surely must be easier NOT to use these chosen expletives.
'fraid I'm guilty of that one. Though in some posts ie the subliminal message one, I think it was entirely justified.

One of the good things about this forum is that the posts are on the whole pretty much devoid of expletives accept when they are used as part of a joke which seems ok to me.
One of the things I've noticed about the use of text language is it isn't just the youngsters who are using it. In other places I've often been fooled into thinking someone was about 13 and they turn out to be in their mid thirties! It's very confusing.

Well, coming from Holland and having Irish parents has only really taught me the spoken side of it all, I try my best to watch my spelling but sometimes I make mistakes, please excuse them.

The forum is heavily RM, plus a few other of the better military and self discipline is one of the attributes that makes good soldiers; that self discipline extends to the language we use. As a young single marine it was a cardinal sin to be invited to a married man's home and to swear in his wife's presence, bad manners so it wasn't done. To this day my daughters have never heard their father use the less acceptable swear words in the anglo saxon language. A dying breed we gentlemen aren't we fellas?

But where i come from foul language is the only way to tell the little gits asking you to buy them some fags because they are 10 to get on their bike.

aye, its a different world these days' I've seen kids tell there parents to '...koff' and watched the parent just simply shake there head in anger. When I was a kid my dad would have beat 7 shades..... this is only 10 years ago. I still wouldn't swear infront of him, and he swears infront of me all the time, (he can still take me)
But where i come from foul language is the only way to tell the little gits asking you to buy them some fags because they are 10 to get on their bike.
Can imagine me at Easterside shops saying "no I'm afraid one cannot purchase you and your companions twenty-four cans or stella artois, as I really don't feel like it is a necassary use of my time, sorry"
Just wouldn't work, they would undoubtedly spit at me(the defence of young scumbags from all over the world), and use words that the BBC won't air.
P.S for none smoggies - Easterside = the bronxs with a heroin problem also my home.
