Which one does everyone find the hardest to train for and during thier PRMC?

I can run 3miles easily and I enjoy it, but last time I did a bleep test I was almost sick and out of breath fairly quickly.

Anyone know the min score needed duirng PRMC? Whats the highest someone got?

I find the bleep test harder than the 3 miler personally. Level 10 is the minimum and i think they stop the tape at level 13 on the prmc.

Well obviously the bleep test is harder. Its designed to push you to your limits. V02 MAX test(notice the word MAX), it wouldnt be a good judge of CV if you didnt run untill you collapsed/throw up. Now the 3 miler is different. You can pace yourself and recover more efficiently. Of course if you ran balls to the wall all the way you will be sick. Besides either one should make you feel sick,"if you dont feel sick regualry after training your not training hard enough" words from the RSM on the PRMC.

Hello,

IMHO the bleep test is harder as you are supposed to be pushing yourself to the limit whereas the 3miler is "get under 20mins (or whatever) and pass - we don't care how you do it - sprint and walk if you like"

The bleep test is an excellent measure of someones 'real' fitness as it measures lung capacity (you don't get a rest for breath - just go faster and faster and faster...) something a three miler cannot do.

On the 3 miler you can run it at your own pace - start quickly, have a 'restful' mile and blast the rest - so you're dictating the pace.

Also the bleep test pass mark at my PRMRC was 11.6 - i know this because the OC told me that I'd only just scraped it. They don't advertise it loudly as they want people to go as hard as possible...

I found them both pretty easy i got max on the bleep test level 13 and the 3mile i found was at a slow pace with the Pti and on the last mile and half i just cained it round and i finished quite ahead of the Pti

WALK ?? :o dunno about that mate, a lad on our prmc was sacked because he got a little tired and wanted a rest. He walked for about 10 seconds, started running again and still failed even though he got back in time.

my scores on PRC were similar to danny's 12.9 on the bleep test and cained the 3 miler finished 3rd in the troop... All you need to do is run 6 milers (hilly roads) 5 times a week and make sure you caine 3 of those runs as fast as you can

How spread out were you when you did the bleep test? I've done a few in school before but we were always cramped up in one corner of the gym falling over each other, any similarities with prmc or do they give you your space?

3miler vs bleep test

the bleep test takes place before the gym tests on the first day so your still pretty fresh. You do have a comprehensive warmup though before hand. Its pretty knackering but pace yourself in the early stages and you'll be okay. The speed required is pretty slow even at the higer stages so as long as you can make your lactic acidised legs stumble forward you'll pass.

3miler is easy, you do it in the morning of the second day of PRMC so your fresh from a nights rest. You do the first mile and a half squaded in a group so the pace is fairly slow, when it gets to the last leg you know its only gonna take a few minutes to get back so you can speed off in the knowledge it will all be over soon.

Boittem field though, thats a killer :o

Car park at the local CO-OP. The marking are greate for distances. Also pathways between houses are top places, mind the occasional granny walking through thou

That's what car parks are for! And handily, the distance between parking markings in all my local car parks are 2.5M, so measuring the distance is easy!

Mind you, unlike all you PRMC nutters I only have to manage 5.4 for the Police, but I go to 10.5 before stopping through boredom. And for some reason I find the beep test easier than running, where my mile and a half times are consistently atrocious, but improving slowly. I have to face facts, at 6'4" and 17 stone with a large upper body mass (52 inch chest. . you get the picture!) I'm just not born to run!

i much prefer the bleep test, i did it a few weeks ago (my mates mom owns a gym) and got 14.2 but on the 3 miler ive never broke 20mins. i can consistantly get below 22.5mins. ive just never been one for long distances (for me long distance is anything over a 1500metres).
in a way its good because in know what ive got to work on and i set myself targets, so its not all bad.
